The much anticipated program "And Cushi
Came" organized by the New
Testament Church of God 20th St.
Philadelphia came up on Saturday January 17.
It was quite phenomenal, and the people who
attended have not stopped talking about it.
Dr. Brown took the audience into one
of the most thorough exegesis of the Bible to
show that the black race is not cursed; he
also established the several important roles
the black man has played at sundry times in
the bible. Finally, he showed what the place
of the black man would be in Gods end-time
agenda, and tied it up prophetically to the
unfolding events in the U.S and other parts
of the world.
It was a very explosive adventure in
the Word!

Power in the Spirit (II).
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to
heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captives, and recovering of sight to
the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised." (Luke 4:18).

What was so special about the Spirit being
"upon" Jesus? How did his own
experience differ from those of the Old
Testament saints?
The difference is that the Spirit
came down
from heaven upon Jesus (Mt. 3:16) with
anointing, in all fulness, and without
measure "...For he whom God hath sent
speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not
the Spirit by measure unto him."
(John 3:34).
Besides, in the case of all those Old
Testament folks, the Spirit came upon, moved
within and entered into many of them, but He
never made his abode in any one of them. In
other words, the Holy Ghost never resided or
dwelt in none of these Old Testament
characters.
This was the major distinguishing
factor between Jesus' "upon"
experience and
their own experience. Also, it became the
'litmus test' in recognizing the Messiah
whenever he showed up.
"And John bare record, saying,
I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like
a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him
not: but he that sent me to baptize with
water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou
shalt see the Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is he which
baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." (John
1:32-33).
