The much anticipated program "And Cushi
Came" organized by the New
Testament Church of God 20th St.
Philadelphia came up on Saturday January 17.
It was quite phenomenal, and the people who
attended have not stopped talking about it.
Dr. Brown took the audience into one
of the most thorough exegesis of the Bible to
show that the black race is not cursed; he
also established the several important roles
the black man has played at sundry times in
the bible. Finally, he showed what the place
of the black man would be in Gods end-time
agenda, and tied it up prophetically to the
unfolding events in the U.S and other parts
of the world.
It was a very explosive adventure in
the Word!

IF MY PEOPLE ...
"And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren" (Luke 22:31-32).

Power in the Spirit.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to
heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captives, and recovering of sight to
the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised." (Luke 4:18).

The life of the child of God will always be
characterized by constant struggles,
tempests, and spiritual battles. These
battles are universal, compulsory, and
practically perpetual in nature (see Job
14:1; Eph. 6:12).
Victory over the flesh, over the
world, over
principalities, powers of darkness, and
wicked spirits can never be won by our own
power or might; it must be by the Spirit of
the Lord God of Hosts.
"Then he answered and spake
unto me,
saying, This is the word of the LORD unto
Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by
power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD
of hosts." (Zech. 4:6).
In Luke 4:18, we see Jesus making a
public declaration of his spiritual
experience "...The Spirit of the Lord
is upon me..." We read also in scriptures
that so many of the Old Testament saints
had their own spiritual experiences...
(i) Many were filled with the
Spirit:
" And I have filled him with the
spirit of God, in wisdom, and in
understanding, and in knowledge, and in all
manner of workmanship" (Ex. 31:3).
(ii) Others had the Spirit in
them:
" But at the last Daniel came in
before me, whose name was Belteshazzar,
according to the name of my God, and in
whom is the spirit of the holy
gods..." (Dan. 4:8).
(iii) David had the Spirit within
him:
" Create in me a clean heart, O
God; and renew a right spirit within
me." (Psalms 51:10).
(iv) The Spirit entered into
Ezekiel:
"And the spirit entered into
me when he spake unto me, and set me upon
my feet, that I heard him that spake unto
me." (Ezek. 2:2).
(v) Samson was moved by the
Spirit:
"And the Spirit of the LORD
began to move him at times in the camp of
Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol."
(Judg. 13:25).
(vi) The Spirit also came upon
Othniel:
"And the Spirit of the LORD came
upon him, and he judged Israel, and went
out to war..." (Judg. 3:10).
In spite of the Spirit entering into
these people, and being filled, or being
moved by the Spirit, many of these Old
Testament characters were still floored by
the devil.
So, what was so special about the
Spirit being "upon" Jesus?
After all. the
Spirit was also "upon" Othniel.
What's so special?
 (...to be continued...)

Holy Humor.
The pastor of our church began his sermon
with this story:
"I was on a plane last week, from
Chicago to California, when we ran into some
very severe turbulence.
As it got worse, the passengers
became more and more alarmed, and even the
flight attendants began to look concerned.
Finally, one of them noticed that I
had 'Rev.' in front of my name on the
passenger list, came over to me, and said,
'Sir, this is really frightening. Do you
suppose you could, I don't know...do
something religious?'"
"So I took up a collection."
