Dr. Brown concluded his ministrations at the
on-going 40 day Fasting & Prayer program of
the Watershed and Ark of Covenant
Ministries tagged "Walking with God
in 2009."
The man of God took five teachings
and led the people in prayers each night. The
final night was a pastors' day which featured
ministers from several assembles from the
neighboring states. It was such a sweet hour
of Word and Prayer as Dr. Brown shared. In
all, God was mightily glorified and the
brethren were thoroughly edified.
Hallelujah!

The Comfort of the Spirit (IV).
"And I will pray the Father, and He
shall give you another Comforter, so that
He
may be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth,
whom the world cannot receive because it does
not see Him nor know Him. But
you know Him,
for He dwells with you and shall be in
you. I
will not leave you orphans. I will come to
you. Yet a little while and the world does
not see Me any more. But you see Me. Because
I live, you shall live also." (John
14:16-19 MKJV.)

Jesus told his disciples "...I will not
leave you comfortless: I will come to
you..."
Back in the Bible days, the disciples of
any particular spiritual leader were called
his children, and upon death they were
considered orphans. The word
"comfortless"
(orphanos in the Greek) translates to mean
orphan. Now, Christ called his disciples
children in John 13:33, and in John 14
promised that in spite of his departure, he
would not leave them as orphans. Rather, he
would make adequate provision for their comfort.
Comfort? What does it mean to comfort?
Scripturally, to comfort means:
1. To console (Ps. 119:50; Job 6:10).
2. To give solace to (I Cor. 14:3).
3. To sooth (Col. 4:11).
4. To be refreshed or braced up
(Philp.
2:19).
5. To be courageous or hearty (Mt.
9:22; Mk.
10:49).
6. To brighten up or encourage
(Job 9:27).
7. To support or refresh (Gen.
18:5; Judg.
19:5,8).
8. To speak kindly to (John 11:19,31).
9. To call alongside (Acts 9:31).
10. To exhort (Mt. 5:4; I Cor. 14:31).
The sure promise of the Lord to his
followers was that he would arrange for
someone who would console, soothe, refresh,
brace up, encourage, brighten up, support,
exhort and speak kindly to them as he walks
alongside them on a daily basis.
This promise is still valid, even for
us who live in 2009!
