Witty Words.

"Worship is our response to the overtures of love from the heart of the Father. Its central reality is found 'in spirit and truth.' It is kindled within us only when the Spirit of God touches our human spirit. Forms and rituals do not produce worship, nor does the disuse of forms and rituals. We can use all the right techniques and methods, we can have the best possible liturgy, but we have not worshiped the Lord until Spirit touches spirit."

Richard J. Foster.

"IT MAY NOT BE A CRIME TO START SMALL, BUT IT MAY BE A CRIME TO END UP SMALL!"

The Comfort of the Spirit (II).
"And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He may be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world does not see Me any more. But you see Me. Because I live, you shall live also." (John 14:16-19 MKJV.)

One of the beautiful things about the Bible is the repeated use of types, shadows, symbolisms and representations to convey spiritual truth to us. Not surprisingly therefore, the Holy Spirit is symbolized in various ways in the Scriptures, and each of these emblems has a deep spiritual significance.

Let's take a look at a few of these emblems...

1. Water: "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" (John 7:38-39).

THE WATER SYMBOLISM IS INDICATIVE OF THE FACT THAT THE HOLY GHOST IS FERTILIZING, REFRESHING, CLEANSING, AND FREELY GIVEN.

2. Rain and Dew: "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth." (Hosea 6:3; Psalms 72:6).

AS RAIN/DEW, THE HOLY SPIRIT IS REFRESHING, ABUNDANT, FERTILIZING, AND SOMETIMES IMPERCEPTIBLE.

3. Fire: "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them." (Acts 2:3).

AS FIRE, THE HOLY SPIRIT IS PURIFYING, ILLUMINATING, SEARCHING, REFINING AND KINDLING.

4. Wind: "And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." (Acts 2:2).

THE WIND SYMBOLISM POINTS TO THE POWERFUL, REVIVING, AND INDEPENDENT NATURE OF THE SPIRIT.

Holy Humor.
Laughing Jesus A pastor went out one Saturday to visit his church members. At one house, it was obvious that someone was home, but nobody came to the door even though the preacher knocked several times. Finally, the preacher took out his card, wrote out "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it, and stuck it in the door.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me. - Revelation 3:20

The next day, the card turned up in the collection plate. Below the preacher's message was written the following notation:

I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. - Genesis 3:10
