Irish Whiskey Tasting & Seminar | |
St. Patrick's Day is a great time to try something new or enjoy an old favorite! Irish whiskey can be enjoyed on the rocks, in a cocktail or a steaming cup of
Irish coffee
Join us Monday March 14th as we welcome Peter Zimmerman back for a
Bushmills Irish Whiskey Tasting & Seminar from 5:30-7:30pm
in our tasting room.
What distinguishes Irish Whiskey from the others?
- Triple distilled for purity producing a smooth, light quality
- Maintains the flavor of barley as the Irish typically abstain from using peat in the production
- Aged a minimum of three years, often many more, in previously used barrels for sherry or bourbon
- Producers have remained small and produce relatively small amounts despite ownership by large international companies; resulting in a focused approach to distillation and ensuring the preservation of traditional methods of production.

Learn about the four important characteristics of beer; appearance, swirl, aroma and taste with a beer tasting for St. Patrick's Day! Below are some of Seth's favorite Irish brews with tasting notes, available in our store;
Mayflower Porter This complex brew is smooth and full-flavored with notes of roasted coffee beans and bittersweet chocolate that will warm the palate all year long.
Sam Adams Irish Red Pale and caramel malts give Sam Adams Irish Red its rich, deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor. The sweetness of the malt is pleasantly balanced by an earthy character from the East Kent Goldings hops.
Produced by Ireland's oldest operating brewery, this authentic Irish Ale is lightly sweet and butterscotch on the nose, medium-bodied, and gently fruity, with a drying note of bitterness on the finish.
Guinness Pub Draught
It might look intimidating, but this famed stout is fairly light in body, dry, and roasty. It finishes with a hint of burnt toast. Guinness, established at St. James Gate, Dublin, Ireland is known for its porter style beer which derives it's unique characteristics from roasted, unfermented barley.
George Killian's Irish Red Actually an American beer brewed in the Irish tradition by Coors Brewing Co., Killian's has a malt accent that distinguishes it from its paler kin, but still drinks light and refreshing. Deep amber color with a ruby red hue.
Harpoon's salute to St. Patrick's Day, Harpoon Celtic Ale is an Irish style red ale that has become their official spring seasonal beer. Featuring a deep amber color, this ale has a rich caramel and butterscotch nose, with sumptuous malt and a moderate hop finish makes for a medium bodied, smooth, rich beer.
