Its Thanksgiving time and so we feast!
Time to put down the big bottle of Cabernet and pick a dinner companion that works well with turkey and all the fixins. As mentioned above, a Beaujolais possibly, and yes we have the Nouveau!
May I also suggest a more elegant expression of the Gamay fruit. Try a Beaujolais Village from Jadot which uses sustainable farming methods. Rhone region wines also pair well, from the more expensive Chateau neuf de Papes, to the more affordable Cotes du Rhone. An excellent choice is Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone (Wine Spectator 90 PTS) and only $16.99 a bottle at Cape Cod Package Store!
Pinot Noir is another excellent wine to enjoy with your Thanksgiving meal. You'll find Fleur Pinot Noir very satisfying, reg. $14.99 on Sale for $11.98 this week.
Of course, white wines can also compliment your feast. I advise you to take the path less traveled here, so this year try something deliciously different. Zenato Lugana, a lovely round crisp white wine from the Veneto. There is life beyond Pinot Grigio! Another suggestion would be 'Can Feixes' , an elegant, clean yet crisp white from Spain, with a hint of white peach. You'll find all of these wines compliment favorite autumnal dishes, such as butternut squash and cranberry relishes.
