It's time for Taste and See! Join us on October 16th at the Oyster Harbors Club for an evening of great wine and local cuisine, along with a silent and live auction,  to benefit numerous organizations that serve the homeless here on the Cape! Pilot House, the Noah Center, and Champs Homes are all grateful recipients of donations made by Our Lady of Victory, who sponsors this charitable event.

Cape Cod Package Store strives to be a beacon in the community, by donating and pouring the wine at this annual fundraising event which brings hope to many in need! 'Taste & See' has become a highlight in our events calendar and we look forward to seeing you there!

Wine Review by Gordon Downey
wine bottle -la canaNew to our wine room is the 2008 vintage La Cana Albarino from Rias Baixas, Spain. This Jorge Ordonez selection hails from the northernmost area of Rias Baixas in Galicia and is made from 40 year old Albarino vines. Due to the cool maritime influence, long growing season and 2,200 hours of sunlight annually this wine boasts lots of crisp acidity and exudes pineapple aromas, ripe peaches, pears and bright citrus notes. La Cana finishes in a balanced but dry style.

Pairs well with seafood such as fresh shellfish, sole and haddock. For other culinary pairings, try La Cana with lemon pepper chicken and fresh herbs or garden fresh tomato and goat cheese salad.

Please stop by, talk to Gordon  and try it for yourself, this is a beautiful vino!
Join us weekly on Saturday afternoons for wine tastin

Sip for the Cure...
bvreast cancer pink ribbon
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and below is a list of wineries that contribute to the cause when you enjoy their wine!

Five Rivers Winery's  "Save a Goddess" Campaign encourages wine lovers to tell a story in 250 words or less about a woman who has survived or is battling breast, ovarian, cervical or ovarian cancer; or about a caregiver who has gone above and beyond in helping someone struggling with the disease. Bi-monthly winners will receive a $250 Spa Finders gift certificate, and their story may appear on the winery's Web site. One Grand Prize winner will be featured on ABC's "Pink With a Twist" special next year.

For the past seven years, Fat Bastard winery has sponsored a Breast Cancer Awareness program. For every bottle sold in September and October, the winery will donate 75 cents towards cancer research, education, screening and support. Fat Bastard's grapes are sourced from the value-ridden Languedoc region in Southern France, and the winery offers six varietal wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay.

Learn more about National Breast Cancer Foundation's mission is to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.
Warm up to Fall

bottle of Burndgy MarinadeThe air is crisp, the leaves are changing colors and and the sun setting earlier each day. Stop by to pick up a bottle of wine and enjoy an easy dinner...with Stonewall Kitchen's Burgundy Marinade. Besides the obvious enjoyment a beautiful glass or two of red wine brings, it seems to be a chef's secret ingredient when marinating meats. A favorite marinade for steaks, especially a lean flank, London broil or NY Strip. Give the meat lots of time to marinate and absorb the robust flavors. Click here to view their recipe for Burgungy Beef Brisket, a perfect Sunday diinner to cook while watching the game!

Another product that might inspire a home cooked meal is Stonewall Kitchen's Maine Maple Champagne Mustard infused with one of Maine's treasures -- pure maple syrup. Splendid with traditional baked ham or as a glaze for chicken or pork roasts. A great pretzel dip, too.

Stonewall Kitchen's Strawberry Brandied Apricot Jam  is a sweet combination of fresh strawberries with the enticing, intense flavor of apricots soaked in warm brandy. This product is featured in a Plum Tart recipe, found on their website.
