Happy Holidays!

I hope your kitchen has been filled with the sweet smell of baking cookies, cakes and candies as you create these delicacies for family and friends.

We have been busy elves here at the store making sure that we have everything for you to make those sweet treats! We have some new things here that may be of interest to you - some great new Nordic Ware pans, a great brownie pan where every slice gets at least 2 edges on it, some great disposable baking pans, sparkling sugars, a great new rainbow dust and so much more. Look at the new items below - or even better - come in to see all that is new.

That Takes the Cake, The Capital Confectioner's Cake Club Cake and Sugar Art Show and Competition is coming up soon. You will want to check out their website to see all that is planned for the weekend of February 28 and March 1, 2009. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Check below for more information about the competition and the schedule of events.

We still have a few slots available in the holiday classes planned through the end of the year. We are teaching cookie decorating, candy making, sweet gifts, cupcakes, truffles and more. Check below for the full schedule and the schedule of classes into next year.

I have also included some information about other cake related classes and events going on in Texas.

Elegant Tartlette Pans - Shortbread and Mendients
tartlette pan set

A buttery shortbread cookie, topped with chocolate and sprinkled with chocolate jimmies - what could be better? How about being able to use the same tartlette pans to make the most elegant tropical bark mendient candies! This recipe sheet includes both recipes!

Recipes
Cookies
snowflake cutter

It's that time of the year to make cookies. Here are some recipes that are my favorites. The cut-out sugar cookie is delicious and easy to make. Importantly, the sugar cookie will not change shape as it bakes. Nothing worse than taking all the time to make cookie dough, rolling it out, cutting it out only to find that your reindeer cut-out has morphed into an unrecognizable blob when it comes from the oven. That won't happen with this recipe. It is especially important to use the right recipe whem you are using a cutter like that detailed snowflake cutter to the left - it is a gorgeous cutter - 7.5" across constructed of tinplate steel. Detailed interior cut-outs for intricate designs and decorating. The Spritz and Rosette cookies are great too. These recipes bring back memories of the zillions of cookies that my Mom used to make for holiday cookie tray gifts for friends and family. I think these recipes will become some of your favorites too!

Cookie Recipes
Chocolate Peppermint Cookies
Holiday Mint Crunch

This is one of my favorite recipes. It is simple to make, they taste great - and they are so pretty. This year, Wilton has come out with a red, green and white Holiday Mint Crunch. It is perfect to use in this recipe. The hardest part of making these cookies is finding the Famous Wafers. I find them in most HEB stores and sometimes they are in the icecream area with the icecream cones. It is worth the search to find them!

Candy Recipes
peppermint candy

These recipes are easy candies to make - and they taste great! Candies make a wonderful gift. Who does'nt like candy - and even more important who does'nt like to get a homemade gift? Homemade gifts make gift giving special and can make gift giving more economical. The recipes for these candies are tried and true and are timeless classics. Enjoy!

This might give you some ideas for your cakes to decorate, or ideas for ordering a cake. If you want to order a cake, you can email Kristie at cakes@allinonebakeshop.com. We only take-on so many cakes per week, and we usually max- out, so place your order as early as possible - at least two weeks in advance of your event.
