Friends and Colleagues:
Fall is just around the corner, and while it is sad to see the
summer months fade away, I feel
blessed to live in Southern California where you can enjoy
beautiful weather year round!
In this latest edition of my newsletter, I want to take the
opportunity to update you on some of my recent
activities, including the completion of the NSF GMP/ISO
9001:2001 certification process by NHK
Laboratories in Santa Fe Springs, Calif.
However, first I would like to share the following
anecedote:
As you may recall from a previous newsletter, last April I
presented
at a meeting of the Nondestructive Test (NDT)
Working Group for the United States Navy in San
Diego.
At that meeting, I spoke regarding the "Role of the NDT
Inspector for the 21st Century." I am pleased to report
that the presentation generated
some interesting discussion regarding the flow of information
and technical concepts from the older, more experienced
workers, to the new generation of workers. The NDT
Working Group also appreciated my comments and
suggestions on how to eliminate document errors, including
the use of vague information, in order to improve
productivity and avoid costly re-work.
I continue to speak about this topic at venues within Southern
California, and throughout the United States. If you have a
group that is interested in learning more,
please don't hesitate to contact me.
Also, after achieving full recovery of my Achilles Tendon, I
am now seeking out new projects for the Fall and Winter
months. I would be pleased to come and talk with your
company about how you can improve your processes, or
achieve certification of international quality standards.
Sincerely,
Joe
P.S. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your
friends and colleagues who you think might benefit from this
information.

I am pleased to report that one of my clients, NHK
Laboratories, Inc., an NNFA and NSF GMP certified
custom manufacturer and packager of dietary supplements
and functional foods, has become the first company to
achieve NSF GMP/ISO 9001:2000 registration by NSF
International, the Public Health and Safety
Company™.
Under my direction, this certification was achieved in record
time -- just under five months! I would like to attribute NHK's
success to the exceptional expertise and dedication of NHK
Laboratories’ employees, and I am pleased to have had the
opportunity to guide the company through this process.
In addition to achieving NSF GMP/ISO 9001:2000 certification,
M. Amirul Karim, chief executive officer of NHK Laboratories,
and his management staff are leading the way for the dietary
supplement industry, as the company's certification for GMP
requirements also meets pending government requirements for
NSF ANSI 173-2005 Dietary Supplements.
Established in 1987, NHK Laboratories, Inc. is a custom
manufacturer and packager of dietary supplements,
functional foods and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.
Specializing in the production of capsules, tablets and powder
drink mixes, the company operates two state-of-the-art
CGMP facilities situated on more than 90,000 square feet
which are registered NNFA GMP, NSF GMP and ISO
9001:2000.
