Friends and Colleagues:
Spring has finally sprung in Southern California! I hope that
those of you who live in this area are taking time out from
your busy schedules to enjoy the wonderful weather we are
experiencing.
In this latest installment of my newsletter, I want to share
some information with you about a new endeavor of mine.
I've recently started working with a manufacturer of dietary
supplements, and as a result, have become involved in some
new developments with regards to quality control standards
for this industry.
I also have several speaking engagements coming up this
year in San Diego and Las Vegas, one for the U.S. Navy and
the other for the American Society for Quality. Please see
below for more details on these events.
As always, please feel free to e-mail any comments or
feedback you
may have regarding my newsletter to
joesorrent@aol.com, I'd love
to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Joe
P.S. Please forward this newsletter to your
friends and colleagues who you think might benefit from this
information.
| New Opportunities in the Dietary Supplement Industry |
|
Over the years, I have been involved in a number of
reorganizations, acquisitions and international management
system implementations. Recently, I have had the opportunity
to engage with two different companies that are now leading
me down a new path.
In 2005, I began working with CalAmp Solutions, an
engineering prototype company in San Diego, where I
implemented the ISO 13485 Medical device standard. Earlier
this year I took an assignment with dietary supplement firm,
where I am in the process of implementing ISO 9001:2000,
NSF/ANSI 173-2005 Dietary supplements and GMP
requirements.
As of late, I have become increasingly more involved with FDA
requirements, and as a result, have been reviewing and gaining
a better understanding of the pending law recommended by
Docket No 96 N-0417 dated Aug 11, 2003 in Washington, D.C.
Once this legislations passes, companies that manufacture
dietary supplements will need to become compliant with the
new quality standards. I look forward to the opportunities that
this may bring for Lean Quality Systems!
Stay tuned in the coming months for more details regarding the
legislation, and our work in the dietary supplement industry.
