Important admission and registration dates

Now through February 4 - Late enrollment - space available basis

Now through March 31 - AA/AS degree or certificate filing period

February 4 - Last day to add a full-term class; last day to drop a full-term class and be eligible for a refund of fees

February 17 - Last day to drop a full-term class without a "W" appearing on transcript;  last day to request P/NP option for a full-term class

February 18-21 - Holiday - Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays - college closed - no Saturday or Sunday classes

DVC accreditation status

The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges sent a letter to President Garcia stating, "the Commission acted to remove Probation and reaffirm accreditation." The letter, dated January 31, 2011, and the ACCJC Follow Up Report can be found on our accreditation page.

Safety reminder

Just a reminder to use extra vigilance in watching over your personal belongings. A number of thefts have been reported, and we don't want it to happen to you. Please keep your belongings safely under watch at all times.

Student e-mail available in February 2011!
You may have heard that the College District is preparing to launch Live@edu - an e-mail service for students made possible through a program with Microsoft. Beginning Feb. 15, e-mail accounts will be created for all current students. During this process, your password to the InSite Portal and WebAdvisor will be reset to your six digit date of birth (mmddyy). Log in to the portal to get more details and instructions about the e-mail program.
DVC graduates Graduation 2011
Jan. 24-March 31, 2011 - AA/AS degree or certificate filing period Visit www.dvc.edu/grads for more graduation information.

Feb. 1-April 15, 2011 - Graduation Speaker application period. Students may apply, and faculty and staff may recommend. Applications available online or in the Vice President of Student Services Office.

May 27, 2011, 7 p.m. - Graduation ceremony in Viking Stadium at DVC, Pleasant Hill Campus (weather permitting). The commencement ceremony and celebration are open to students who earned a degree or certificate for summer or fall 2010, or spring 2011. Students who have applied for and who have met the requirements for a degree or certificate will be sent detailed information about graduation in early May. Please take a few moments to complete the Graduation Memories form. Thank you... and congratulations!

Find out when college representatives will be visiting campus this semester. Check the calendar regularly as colleges are added daily.

Transfer Center comes to San Ramon Valley Center!
Do you have transfer questions? The Transfer Center Coordinator will be in the Learning Commons at the San Ramon Valley Center on the first Wednesday of each month to answer your transfer questions. No appointment needed - simply drop in between 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

CSU documentation requests for fall 2011 applicants
Each campus will be submitting requests for information independent of other campuses so be sure to check your email each day. Stop by the Transfer Center if you have questions.

UC campuses do not request transcripts
University of California will use the UC Application Updates completed Jan. 31, 2011 in evaluating admission for fall 2011 applicants. They do not require transcripts to be sent.

Whistling Vivaldi Project Whistling Vivaldi Project
The first two Whistling Vivaldi Project events will be on Thursday, Feb. 10 in the BFL Community Conference Center:

The DVC Data and Beyond by Mohamed Eisa, Dean of Planning, Research and Student Outcomes, is a thorough case study of the data, root causes, and possible solutions for narrowing the achievement gap at our college, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Expanding Equity in Higher Education presented by Deanna Cherry, Center for Urban Education (CUE), examines ways we can work with students on an equity rather than a deficit minded approach. This presentation is associated with the DVC College Success Inquiry project, 3-5 p.m.

Attendance slips will be available to students.
