Now through December 1 - AA/AS degree or certificate filing period

November 12 - Veteran's  Day holiday - college closed

November 19 - Last day to withdraw from full-term classes with a "W" appearing on transcript

November 25-28 - Thanksgiving weekend holiday - college closed, no Saturday/Sunday classes.  Classes resume November 29.

Free tickets for current DVC students!
Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchu will speak at DVC on Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the Pleasant Hill campus. Free tickets are available at the Pleasant Hill and San Ramon Student Life Offices after Nov. 1 while supplies last. Learn more about Rigoberta Menchu by visiting www.frmt.org/en/.

DVC Scholarship Scholarship program
Scholarships are available for DVC students who are new, continuing, or transferring to a four-year college or university fall 2011. One application plus two letters of recommendation can qualify for multiple scholarships.  Thousands of dollars are available through the DVC Scholarship Program.
 
The application period is Oct. 1, 2010 through noon on Feb. 2, 2011. Stop by the DVC Scholarship Office for other scholarship opportunities.

DVC Financial Aid Financial Aid
DEADLINES! The deadline to submit financial aid paperwork for 2010-2011 (fall '10 and spring '11) is March 7, 2011. To ensure the timely processing of financial aid files, including appeals, students are required to complete and submit ALL necessary documents to the Financial Aid Office no later than Monday, March 7, 2011 to receive payments for the 2010-2011 academic year. Documents received after this date will NOT be processed. A 2010-2011 FAFSA must be submitted online at www.fafsa.gov no later than Feb. 7, 2011 to meet the March 7 deadline.

UCLA is coming!
UCLA will host a workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 10-11:30 a.m., to answer your transfer, major and admission questions and then meet with students in the Counseling building for drop-in from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Stop by or call the Transfer Center at 925-685-1230, ext. 2588 to reserve your seat in the workshop.

Many CSU campuses have re-opened for winter 2011 and spring 2011
  • CSU East Bay, Sacramento State, and San Diego State Universities have re-opened for winter 2011 and spring 2011 and will be accepting both lower-division (CSU qualified from high school) and upper-division transfers. For more information, check the campus websites for details.
  • CSU application filing period ends Nov. 30 for fall semester/quarter 2011. Visit the Transfer Center for help in preparing your application or to begin go to www.csumentor.edu.
UC application filing period begins Nov. 1 and the last day to submit the application will be Nov. 30. Stop by the Transfer Center during business hours for help preparing your application. To begin, click www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply.

  2. Open labs with counselors available to answer application questions. No appointment needed - simply drop in during business hours.
Private university application filing periods
Private schools can get you through quickly and often have scholarships. Check out private California university application filing periods at www.aiccu.edu. Stop by the Transfer Center if you need help in determining filing periods for any of your college choices.

Transfer Center coming to San Ramon Valley Center!
Do you have transfer questions?  A Transfer Center representative will be in the Learning Commons at the San Ramon Valley Center to answer your transfer questions.  No appointment needed - simply drop in between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.
