Important notice about spring 2010
Spring 2010 registration is here!  Registration by appointment for EOPS, DSS and eligible veterans begins Monday, November 23. Beginning Monday, November 30, registration by appointment is available for all continuing students. Check WebAdvisor for your appointment day and time. Classes fill quickly, so take advantage of registering early!
Important dates
Now through December 1 - A.A./A.S. degree or certificate filing period

November 9 - Holiday - Veterans Day - college closed (Sunday classes are in session)

November 20 - Last day to withdraw from full-term course with a "W" appearing on transcript

November 26-29 - Holiday - Thanksgiving weekend - college closed.  Classes resume Monday, November 30.

Counseling Center
UC Berkeley Oski mascot Experience UC Berkeley through the UCB-DVC Concurrent Enrollment Program.

DVC students are able to take a total of two lower division courses on the  Berkeley campus through the Concurrent Enrollment Program. To obtain more information and to file an application for participation for the spring 2010 semester, students must attend a one of the Concurrent Enrollment Workshops that are being held in December 2009.
Contra Costa Community College District
Are you frustrated by too many closed classes? The college budget is getting tighter, but students can do something about it. As student trustee, I want to help students get the best information possible. The District Vice Chancellor Kindred Murillo and I have organized budget forums on each college's main campus. Leaders such as your student government president, college president, and I want to know your concerns, questions, and ideas.

Educational Talent Search Program
Future math and science teachers needed for fall 2009 and spring 2010

T R I O logoThe Educational Talent Search Program at DVC seeks 5-8 future math and science teachers to work as teacher assistants (TA) in local middle and high schools for 3-5 hours per week. The TA will gain classroom experience working directly with the teacher. TAs may also tutor middle and high school students on the DVC campus. This is a paid opportunity. 

The schedule for classroom TAs will vary and depend upon TA availability and class schedule. All tutoring is held on the DVC campus on Monday through Thursday, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Interested students should contact Jackie Castellano at jjonesca@dvc.edu.
Scholarship Office
STARS Online application period The DVC Scholarship opens November 1, 2009 and closes February 2, 2010 at 12 noon. 

Scholarships are available for DVC students who are new, continuing, or transferring to a four-year college or university in fall 2010. One application can qualify for multiple scholarships. Thousands of dollars are available through the DVC Scholarship Program.  Stop by the DVC Scholarship office in the Student Services Center for other scholarship opportunities.

Stand up, be counted!  The census questionnaire is a count of everyone living in the United States.  Achieving a complete and accurate 2010 census is in our hands.  In 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau will define who we are as a nation.  The form is short, your answers are protected, and many benefits rely upon an accurate count.  Help your community receive the funds it requires.  Ensure that everyone is counted.  www.2010census.gov
New smoking policy
Effective August 14, 2009, the DVC campus is smoke-free.   Smoking is permitted in the parking lots only.  DVC's smoking policy
Campus Alert System
$20tuition Your attention please...

A loud siren will be heard throughout the DVC campuses on Wednesday, November 4 at 11 a.m.

This will be a test of our Campus Alert System, which will sound on the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m.  There is nothing you need to do during a siren test.

In the event of an actual emergency or crisis situation, the siren sound will continue for three minutes. Students and all campus personnel will be instructed to Shelter, Shut, and Listen.
