HART bus ridership for November 2011 is 1,143,781, which is a 6.7 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
These numbers reflect a national upward trend in public transit ridership, according to a quarterly ridership report released last week by the American Public Transportation Association. The report provided comparative information on public transit trips taken July - September 2011, as well as year-to-date information (January - September 2011). According to the report:
- This is first time in three years that national ridership has increased for all three quarters. This measurement takes into account all public transit modes, including heavy rail, light rail, commuter rail, bus and demand response.
- Bus ridership increased nationally by 1.4 percent in the third quarter.
- HART bus ridership increased 7.09 percent in the third quarter, compared to the same quarter last year.
- HART bus ridership increased by 12.04 percent year to date, compared to the same period last year.
