August Ridership Up 11%
Security cameras now on buses, transit centers, streetcars |

HART ridership numbers for August are in!
- Bus ridership for August 2011 is 1,188,972, up 11 percent compared to the same month last year.
- Bus ridership year to date (October 2010 - August 2011) is 12,503,093, up 12 percent compared to the same months last year.
- With still another month left of this fiscal year, bus ridership has already surpassed last year's total bus ridership of 12.3 million, which had marked the highest in the 30-year history of HART.
When it comes to everyone's safety, we don't miss a thing. Since 2002, HART has used federal funding to build an extensive surveillance system and security cameras are now on all buses, transit centers and streetcars. These cameras have not only enforced rider regulations and served as a crime deterrent for enhanced safety of HART customers, footage from these cameras have provided local law enforcement with valuable evidence to help solve outside criminal investigations.
