The HART Board held a special meeting today to discuss the Alternatives Analysis Study and Legal Services Procurement.
The HART Board voted 9-2 to wind down the Alternatives Analysis Study, while preserving key information that may be useful for other studies.
Preserving about $1.7 million of local funding originally budgeted for the Alternatives Analysis Study will avoid a projected draw from the HART fund balance reserve. Some funding may be reallocated towards preserving bus service.
The HART Board also discussed reviewing during an upcoming workshop long-range planning studies and capital construction projects currently underway at HART, such as the Bus Toll Lanes Value Pricing Pilot Study, Transit Development Plan, MetroRapid North-South and MetroRapid East-West. Some of these are funded or in collaboration with other local government agencies, providing many cost-sharing opportunities for HART.
The HART Board voted 10-1 for Gray Robinson to serve as the HART Board General Counsel, who stated that Chip Fletcher would be the primary point of contact. This contract is effective in mid-June and is for a period of three years, with an option for an additional year. The outgoing General Counsel is Stiles, Taylor and Grace P.A.
The HART Board also voted to award the following legal services contracts for a period of three years, with an option for an additional year:
- Stiles, Taylor and Grace for general liability and personal injury law
- Barbas, Nunez, Sanders, Butler & Hovsepian for workers' compensation law
- Allen, Norton and Blue for employment/labor law
The next time the HART Board is scheduled to gather is for its regular meeting Monday, June 6 at 9 a.m. at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.
