- WHAT: Open House for MetroRapid North-South Project
- WHEN: Tuesday, April 26, 4 - 7 p.m.
- WHERE: University Area Community Development Center, 14013 N. 22nd St. in Tampa
HART will host an Open House to update residents about the MetroRapid North-South Project, which is now in the final design phase. Residents may stop by any time Tuesday, April 26, 4 - 7 p.m. at the University Area Community Development Center. HART representatives will be on hand to provide details about the project and answer questions from residents.
MetroRapid North-South will run about 17.5 miles along Nebraska and Fletcher Avenues, from downtown Tampa to Telecom Park (west of I-75). In addition, a new park and ride facility is planned in the Fletcher Avenue/I-75 area.
MetroRapid North-South will feature transit signal priority technology, which will hold green lights longer and shorten red lights for HART MetroRapid buses at signalized intersections. This will provide for more frequency of service, travel-time savings and
better reliability. In addition, MetroRapid includes passenger amenities, such as enhanced passenger shelters with real-time schedule information and ticket vending machines at major stops.
The total cost of the MetroRapid North-South project is $31 million and is being paid for by funds from the Hillsborough County Community Investment Tax (CIT). The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2013.
