Rapidly rising gas prices gives the highest savings for public transit riders in two years, according to the American Public Transportation Association. Based on the March 4 average national gas price of $3.47 per gallon that was reported by the AAA and the national unreserved monthly parking rate, riding public transportation saves individuals, on average, $9,904 annually and $825 per month.

South County and Brandon residents can ride for less than $1 using HART Flex, which is on-demand, door-to-door service. HART Flex is open to all passengers and takes them from any place in their neighborhood zone to any other destination within the same zone.
