It All Started on a Bus ... |
|
HART recently kicked off It All Started on a Bus to highlight the significance that transit played in the American Civil Rights Movement. It All Started on a Bus pays tribute to the brave actions of Rosa Parks and supports February as Black History Month. HART is pleased to offer free It All Started on a Bus bookmarks at HART retail locations or at Hillsborough County public libraries.
"Providing equal access to HART services is the cornerstone of our public transportation system," said David Armijo, Chief Executive Officer of HART. "HART takes seriously its role in helping all riders conveniently connect to the places important to them, such as work, school and medical appointments."
More than 50 years ago, on Dec. 1, 1955, Rosa Parks sparked the modern civil rights movement when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to allow a white passenger to sit. She changed the course of history and inspired us all.
