Several years ago the public voiced their opinions loud and
clear: Hillsborough has transportation problems.
The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners
answered those concerns by seating a Transportation Task Force (TTF) to study
the issue, identify problems and find solutions. Last year, the TTF submitted
their report and voted unanimously on a series of solutions which became
Transportation Hillsborough (roads & pedestrian improvements) and the Rapid
Transit Investment Plan (transit related solutions). After more than 235 public meetings, planning and engineering
evaluations, a decision on two of the transit solutions is fast approaching. In keeping
with a pledge to be open, inclusive and accountable, another round of public
meetings is being held before moving to a final decision on the Northeast and West rapid transit
corridors.
