HSING-AY HSU EXPLORES THE "RUSSIAN SOUL" ON
CU-BOULDER'S FACULTY TUESDAY SERIES

On Tuesday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. College of Music Instructor and Steinway Artist Hsing-ay Hsu will present a recital featuring Mussorgsky's famous "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Tchaikovsky's "Piano Trio in A Minor." Colorado Symphony concertmaster, Yumi Hwang-Williams, and principal cellist, Silver Ainomäe will join Hsu to form the Hwang-Ainomäe-Hsu Piano Trio for the Tchaikovsky. The Denver Post said, "With three of the area's highest-profile classical musicians as its founding members, the new Hwang-Ainomäe-Hsu Piano Trio can boast instant credibility and appeal right out of the gate...a powerhouse ensemble." The program explores what the "Russian Soul" meant to Mussorgsky and Tchaikovsky. Born only a year apart and both trained in St. Petersburg, each developed a completely different musical language.

This concert is free and open to the public. Call the CU Presents Box Office at (303) 492-8008 or visit music.colorado.edu/events/faculty-tuesdays/ for more information.
