Biography
Justin Kolb
Justin Kolb has appeared as soloist at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, as well as Chicago's Orchestra Hall, the Alte Halle of the University of Heidelberg, and the Franz Liszt Memorial Museum in Budapest. His recordings for the Albany Records label include music by Robert Starer and William Ferris and have received positive and enthusiastic reviews. A distinguished alumnus of DePaul University in Chicago, Kolb studied with Herman Shapiro, Alexander Tcherepnine and Paul Stassevitch. He has also studied with Hans Rosbaud in Baden Baden, Rolf Beyer in Heidelberg, and Martin Canin of the Juilliard School. Kolb's favorite topic of conversation involves "the innate entrepreneurism of musicians." Justin serves as the executive secretary for the American Liszt Society and "chairs" the advisory board of the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice in the New York's Catskill Mountains. Recently returned from Budapest, the virtuoso premiered music of Hermann Cohen, a protégé of Franz Liszt, in a program titled: "Liszt and the Barefoot Carmelite".Justin Kolb Website
