CU-Boulder Faculty Elizabeth Farr Performs Bach's "Eighteen Great" Chorale Preludes for Organ
Around 1739-42 Bach began revisions of eighteen organ chorales composed earlier in his life, a project he was still working to complete in the months leading up to his death. On Monday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Boulder, Elizabeth Farr will present a uniquely rare experience to hear the entire collection of organ chorales in one evening. This concert is free and open to the public. Call the CU Presents Box Office at (303) 492-8008 or visit music.colorado.edu/events/ for more information.

Biography Elizabeth Farr
Elizabeth Farr specializes in keyboard music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She has performed solo recitals on the organ, harpsichord, and pedal harpsichord to critical acclaim throughout the United States and Germany, including repeat engagements at the famous seventeenth-century Schnitger organ in the Ludgerikirche in Norden, Germany. As a recording artist for the Naxos label, Elizabeth Farr is a recognized interpreter of Baroque keyboard repertoire, garnering prestigious awards and numerous reviews worldwide. She received the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik twice, for Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre: Suites for Harpsichord, and JS Bach: Music for Lute-Harpsichord. Her recording of Peter Philips' harpsichord works is the first to feature the Italian harpsichord built in 1658 by Jerome de Zentis. The Absolute Sound (USA) selected her recording of William Byrd: My Ladye Nevells Booke as Recording of the Issue in November 2007, followed shortly by the Supersonic prize from Pizzicato music magazine (Luxembourg). Elizabeth Farr holds degrees in organ from Stetson University and The Juilliard School, and harpsichord from the University of Michigan, having studied with Paul Jenkins, Vernon de Tar, and Edward Parmentier.
