Hilary Scott and The New County Line had a great time on our November tour. There were so many highlights it is difficult to know where to begin, but I will try to include them all! Because we played in cities near my old home, I saw friends, family, even old high school buddies I hadn't seen in years, so every show was a mini-reunion of sorts - plus we made a lot of new fans. At the Portland (Laurelthirst Public House) and Seattle (The Mix) shows we teamed up with Darren Smith, a wonderful talent you should really check out, and whose band members turned out to be friends of mine (I found this out in a roundabout way and it was a very pleasant surprise) so we hope to share more shows with those wonderful people (and stellar musicians) in the future. Our pals in the band Altin Jimbiz also shared the night in Seattle, and it was a blast! Guest musician Rob Lampe, long-time friend and member of the Hilary Scott Band, joined for this tour. It was so much fun to have him traveling and playing these venues with us. The Belltower in Pullman is a wonderful performance venue that is housed in a former church building. In addition to being quite beautiful, the acoustics are wonderful! We finished off the tour in Colorado, at the Laughing Goat in Boulder, and at Avogadro's Number in Ft. Collins, which was super fun! My family was able to attend many of the shows, which was such a wonderful thing for me, and the band members really appreciated being taken care of so well! We put a few thousand miles on our trusty band vehicle, which made it without a hitch. Driving a 15-passenger and trailer across the Colorado winds and the mountain ranges of Montana (complete with snow!) was certainly a 'fun" challenge. Even more "fun" was the strep I came down with at the beginning of the trip and the urgent care stop we made in Wyoming to obtain antibiotics. Despite all of that, the tour was a success, we made good relationships with venues, and did what we had intended: sold CDs and shared our sound with as many people as we could in a short period of time. Michael ONeill, who is a revered musician who has toured with nearly every big name you can imagine, contacted us and asked for an in-studio performance and interview (he has a syndicated show as well as being a DJ on a Seattle station) but a family emergency prevented him from being able to meet with us at the last minute, so we hope to re-schedule that, and in the meantime he is playing Still on his shows. Kirk Stauffer, who lives in Seattle and has wanted to attend a live show for years (he and I had never met, he had just written me to let me know how much he enjoyed my music) attended our show at The Mix and took photos. His album of photos of me is a featured photo album on No Depression. It was such a pleasure to meet Kirk and such an honor that he wanted to photograph me. His work has been in Rolling Stone and multiple other publications and he is such a talent! We also had Craig VandenBosch taking photos at The Mix. Craig is a photographer hired by the label to get some publicity shots of the band - he has a great eye and we really got some fun ones - those will be coming soon. Although we are a bit road-weary, we are now gearing up for and looking forward to our show THIS FRIDAY at The Vault in Farmington, and we are excited to debut our new EP in St. Louis at famed Blueberry Hill on Friday December 16th. Stay tuned! |

Hilary Scott and The New County Line's EP, Still, was released on November1, 2011 and has received excellent reviews. Here are a few excerpts from the reviews:
"Hilary Scott and The New County Line's Still, is a standout album of the year. This is the making of a classic. A stunning record that knows no boundaries" - Melissa Natasi (Review You, also writes for Breakthrough Radio.com, My Music Success.com, Green Shoelace.com) "Hilary Scott's new EP Still (2011, Belltown Records) is a well-played, durable sampler of original music (punctuated with a somber cover of Leonard Cohen's rapturous "Hallelujah") from an established and talented artist with an impressive arsenal of natural abilities. Though clocking in at only five tracks, Still doesn't feel like a short-winded collection of songs meant to simply tide over fans between records given the general strength of the output, and instead is a stand alone outing replete with much to offer on its own." - Reid Burnham To read the full reviews, check out: Still Reviews The Still EP can be purchased at live shows, on www.cdbaby.com, at www.hilaryscott.com, and www.amazon.com. Downloads are also available on iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby and other favorite music download sites. Still album download cards are available for sale on the Hilary Scott website. They make great stocking-stuffers for the holidays!! In addition to the download cards, we toss in a magnet and sticker for free! We just learned that Hilary Scott has a Wiki page in the Portuguese version of Wikipedia under the categories of United States songwriters and singers.
