Hello from Hilary Scott
Hilary Scott   Seoul springtime
Traveling around the world has provided me with many opportunities, but has also made me truly feel like the "wandering minstrel" who has no fixed home. This year will take me to dozens of different cities, states, and even countries. I am most thankful for the new friends I've made, the reunions with family and friends I've known for years, and the progress I've made as a musician. It seems I am always coming or going, and everything is either a tearful goodbye or a thrilled hello. I have no time to be bored! The one constant is my music, however, and I try to use my spare time to write new material (when I'm not sightseeing and trying to soak in the culture of the new places I've had the chance to see). Playing six nights a week for four hours each night has really improved my improvisational skills and vocal strength. I'm excited to bring that experience back with me this summer when I have the chance to perform with my Hilary Scott Band- mates and my latest project with Wes Wingate.

One of the other aspects of these jobs is that while I do play some of my original repertoire, I'm also required to learn many cover songs to please the audiences and to keep the nightly line-up interesting and fresh. Due to crowd response, I've decided it would be a good move to record an album of some favorites of these piano/vocal covers. Narrowing down the list has proven to be difficult. I am asking for your help in choosing which songs go on the CD, which will likely have 12 tracks. While I have definitively decided on some of the tracks, there are a few slots that still need to be filled, and I would like YOUR input to help me make the final choices. Included later in this newsletter in the section entitled We Want Your Vote you will find the list of songs I am considering. Please choose your Top 5 and let us know!

If you're reading this, you've been keeping up with me as I travel, and I want to thank you. I hope that the road will lead me to a city near you so that I can see you in person, wherever you may be. Time passes quickly, things change a great deal in a short period of time, and connecting with people is the most important thing there is. Thanks for caring, thanks for reading, and thanks for listening.

Industry News
  Travelin' the road... Consonance
Hilary just completed her six month contract at the prestigious Paris Bar in the Grand Hyatt Seoul, South Korea. This summer includes many music plans for Hilary, including recording an eighth album at The Mansion Studio in Columbia, Missouri and touring her seventh album, a collaboration with Wes Wingate of Hometone Productions, in May and June.

Wes Wingate and Hilary Scott's album entitled Consonance includes well-chosen covers by Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, and Madonna among others, as well as several original songs. Wingate and Scott will perform as a duo with guest musicians meeting up with them for shows in certain cities, including Pat Kay on mandolin, who performed on the album. One of the shows already booked is an opener for Tim Easton in St. Louis at Off Broadway. Hilary and Wes will also open for John Henry and the Engine in several cities. The songs, already being featured on Wingate and Scott's My Space page, are receiving rave fan reviews. Visit www.myspace.com/weswingateandhilaryscott to listen in for yourself, and check Gig News for a complete list of tour dates as they are added.

Hilary will also reunite with members of the Hilary Scott Band for sev eral performance dates during her time in the Midwest. One of the shows currently booked is the wonderful Hermann Taste For the Arts fair on June 7th. Hilary, along with guitarists Rob Lampe and Bill Adams, will perform two separate sets, one at noon, and one in the mid-afternoon

The new album that will be recorded while Hilary is in the midwest will focus on piano/vocal performance. Many of the songs will be Hilary's renditions of covers she has been performing during her time in Asia. Selections will include John Hiatt's "Have a Little Faith in Me," Prince's "Purple Rain," and David Gray's "Please Forgive Me" among many others. Audiences have been requesting recordi ngs of the songs Hilary performs live and this album will deliver. Many genres will be covered on the album including pop, folk, jazz and rock.

Plans are also in the works for Hilary to complete "America's Song" with Keith Colley while in Seattle in late June. In July, Hilary will depart for Vietnam where the Park Hyatt Saigon has asked her to return for another three month stay.

Hilary's agent from Premier Talent International is expanding the company and looking to begin booking in the college and festival circuit in the United States. Hilary hopes this will allow her to balance more US touring with her overseas jobs
