Hello from Hilary Scott
Hilary Scott   Hilary Scott at the Cherry Street Artisan
There is so much I would like to share with you! This newsletter is overdue because of several things converging: my return from Italy, which coincided with the holidays, which coincided with the process of getting settled in Seattle, which coincided with my recent return trip to Missouri for several shows in early February. Phew! Thanks for your patience, and for taking the time to read this update. This particular hello might be a bit of an incoherent ramble, so please bear with me.

February's return to Missouri made me realize, yet again, how much I will always miss that area and the people there. The band's fabulous booking agent, Jane Accurso, found us a Missouri Arts Council gig at Culver-Stockton College which was an incredibly good time and one of the band's best shows. The next night led us to an old stomping ground of ours, the Artisan on Cherry Street, where we collaborated with Columbia's Belly Dance United to put on a show unlike anything either group had done before, uniting women in the performing arts in a novel way. The following night three of us from the band performed at Simma Down, and we were told they received several hundred phone calls about the show. The place was filled with familiar faces and the restaurant had turned the night into a truly special event we will not forget. I send out the biggest hug to all of Columbia - thank you for embracing me, my band, and our music. I know I can always come back home.

Speaking of returns, my return in mid-December from the beautiful land of Italy just in time for the holidays was a blessing. I spent nearly three wonderful months in Italy making music with talented musicians who brought a new european sound to my songs and introduced me to many new experiences, venues, and people. I faced challenges personally and professionally, and will always consider that time to be one of the most important growing experiences of my life. Coming back home to a Christmas that had snow - even on the ocean in Seattle - and time with family - was wonderful. If I ever have time to write a complete recounting of all my stories from Italy (a night of performing at a mafia-owned venue included) I will post it as a blog for people to read. There is simply too much I want/need to remember, and so much I will never forget.

Here in Seattle I have been playing a few shows, collaborating with different musicians, and adjusting to life back in the Northwest. We have been treated to a mild late winter, days are often in the mid forties and fifties with lots of sunshine and little rain. I cannot complain, as I am alive and well and still making music. Thank you for your support and encouragement through the years. Please keep traveling with us!

Italy Gigs

Hilary performed with Giuseppe D'Alessio, (bass) Nicola D'Alessio, (guitar) and Stefano Ripa (drums) while in Italy during the months of October, November, and December of 2007. The majority of the venues Hilary performed in were in southern Italy, between Avellino and Naples, with one performance in the north at a blues jam in Milan. Photos of the beautiful venues and other moments from her trip are now on www.hilar yscott.com.

Hilary's music was well received by Italian listeners and arranged in a European pop- rock style by the D'Alessio trio. While she was there, Hilary recorded two songs for a bass-and-vocal contest, and possible recording projects with the Italian musicians are on the horizon.

  Hilary Scott In Concert
After returning from Italy, Hilary performed with Robert Parks as the opening act for his band, AlaZingara, at the Jewel Box theater in the Rendezvous in downtown Seattle. Hilary hopes to return to this iconoclastic venue, which had theater-type seating with a laid- back bar-room feel, but was also truly a listening room.

In February, Hilary returned to mid-Missouri for three fabulous shows with the Hilary Scott Band. The first was at Culver-Stockton College in Canton Missouri. Check out the photos from this show! Band photographer Kevin Dingman's alma mater happens to be Culver-Stockton, and he was able to attend and photograph the show. The following night, the Hilary Scott Band played at the Artisan in Columbia, teaming up with Belly Dance United for a unique and eventful show pairing dance and song for a true showcase of women in the arts. The final of the three shows was at a new Columbia restaurant, Simma Down. The restaurant was packed, and the owners had created a Hilary Scott Special Event menu for the evening.

Hilary plans to share shows with Robert Parks and his band AlaZingara in the Seattle area in the near future, is working on booking solo shows, and is hoping to book shows large enough to enable her to invite her mid-Missouri band out to perform in the Northwest.

Hilary was recently contacted by producer Matthew Wilder from Nashville, and plans are progressing with his performance venue/promotions/booking/production company, of which Hilary hopes to be an active part in the future. Hilary intends to travel to Nashville within the next few months to complete the recording/writing/publishing project they started in 2006.

Hilary is currently working on a recording project with Wes Wingate in cooperation with Hometone Records and Bruce Barkelew's Mansion Studio. Adam Roehlke and Bruce Barkelew are engineering and recording the project, Hilary and Wes are producing and performing on what is intended to be a covers-only EP, including tracks by Colin Hay, Bob Dylan, and Ryan Adams.

Plans are in-the-works for Hilary to begin another recording project in Nashville with the aid of Steve Gardner, (producer and engineer on several of Hilary's previous albums) with all new songs being written for the project.

Hilary is hard at work on a song she was asked to write for St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Columbia, MO for their anniversary celebration.

Shows are being booked in Missouri area, and Hilary intends to return there for several performances in the summer and fall.

The Capitol Area Chapter of the American Red Cross in Jefferson City, MO sent 10 copies of Road To Hope to our troops serving in Iraq.

Hilary hopes to be recording America's Song for Keith Colley within the next few months.

When you hear the music on our station it is because we LOVE that music. When you see a link on our web, it will lead to someone that has joined us on this adventure in music and because "it's about the music". Tune in to Twin Cities Radio and hear the best of independent artists.

Cheryl Bruedigam of Wome n's Rising Music has this to say about Road To Hope and Hilary Scott: "Singer- songwriter Hilary Scott has a fresh blend of country and contemporary sounds. With so many wanna-be's around these days, an artist is hard-pressed to find a fresh sound but Scott has done it on tracks like "Daydreamer", "Sugar Bomb." "Loser Blues" has a highway ballad feel with great vocals and guitar. Her band is undoubtedly the right mix for her voice and their musical talents. Scott's rendition of "Hallelujah" is soulfully soothing with a country slant. But it's not all country, the title cut, "Road to Hope" is upbeat and very much up there with the likes of today's pop sound. All in all a great listen. Be sure to pick up a copy of the CD because the booklet contains some wonderful photography of Scott and her guitar and American classics." Hilary Scott is also a Featured Artist on the site.

Hurricane Relief
Total Experience Gospel Choir, Pastor Wright and Hilary Scott
Our deepest thanks to all of you who have donated so far. Even now, there remains a very great need to help the hurricane survivors.

According to the Los Angeles Times, now - even two years after the storms - families occupy roughly 56,000 FEMA trailers, the majority of them in Louisiana and Mississippi, and a number of those are contaminated with formaldehyde fumes.

Your donation is and will be very much appreciated by those who have lost so much. For your $10.00 donation you will receive a copy of the EP, Blessed, featuring Hilary Scott and the Hilary Scott Band, Pastor Wright and the Total Experience Gospel Choir, and the Jeff Busch Quintet.
