Greetings!

Church Votes 'Yes!'

Last night, with a 100 percent favorable vote in a secret ballot, Iglesia Bautista Evangélica de Macorís (IBEM) voted to buy a larger piece of property for the future site of a new church building. Ironically, the future church site (pictured above) is right across the street from the current building that IBEM is renting. The wooden structure will be torn down and either sold for materials or reconstructed on Visionland (46 acre ministry property outside of town).

God has graciously provided a $100,000 loan with generous terms through a Christian family, allowing the church to purchase the property for $55,000 and begin site plans, development, and the first phases of building. As you rejoice with being part of our extended family, please remember to pray for the church as IBEM takes this significant step forward. If you or your church would be interested in planning a trip to help in some phase of construction, please contact us at team.dr@dbmi.org.

We are humbled that in the midst of one of the worst global recessions in modern history, God has seen fit to pour out His blessings upon our church. For several months now, a great spirit of anticipation has permeated nearly every church service as the church's attendance has swelled and the power of God has been evident. Last night's vote, was preceded by one of the most stirring services in the church's history as, simply put, God moved upon our hearts as church members embraced one another in fervent prayer. People wept with one another and went to their knees, asking for God's intervention. Despite the many challenges that we face, the church just dares to believe that God wants to use our church, to touch the world from San Pedro de Macoris.
