Team Dominican Republic Update
Into the year January 2007
Greetings!
It's hard to believe that January is almost gone. Before it gets away, we wanted to let you know what's been happening so you can rejoice in what God is doing.

Right, part of Team Dominican Republic shares the vision at the Cedarville University Missions Conference earlier this month. In this photo, Doug Hodges, Chad Justice and Allison Hale are talking to interested students and faculty. What a blessing to see the Lord calling people!

Nehemiah Project About to Begin: Construction Teams Needed
With only $85,000 left for the payoff of the land for the DR Vision, we are excited to begin thinking about the next phase of the property development, which includes building a 3'-4' concrete wall around the 46 acres and then placing a 6'-8' chain-link fence on top of that wall.

Ok, so we are excited about getting to that point. The idea of rebuilding the Great Wall of China is not so exciting. We will need to do this however, for security of residents, buildings, equipment, and construction sites.

If you think you might be interested in coming down and working on a construction trip, please write us today. Perhaps your church would like to plan to bring a work group in order to help us complete a section of the wall. We already have a couple of construction groups planned and we'll need many more. Pray about helping us get this wall complete. Also, we are still searching for the best price of chain-link fence to ship in. If anyone has a contact, please write us!

Nine baptized on the beach
We were thrilled to celebrate the baptism of nine people, Sunday, Jan.21. It was exciting to load up people in our cars and drive down to the beach to have a baptism service in January. What a way to begin a new year. We baptized two men, two women, and five teens!

UPDATE: Our long-time newsletter readers will be excited to know that one of those baptized was Robin Baez, who was saved several months ago. Many of you sent letters back then, praying for his salvation. Continue to pray for this family, as they continue to grow in the Lord and serve Him. They are a special blessing to our church. Above, Robin Baez is about to follow the Lord in believer's baptism.

Land Update (thermometer drops) :
We praise the Lord for an unexpected gift from a church two weeks ago; $20,000 was given by a church toward the payoff of the 46 acres of land for the DR Vision. This leaves only $85,000 to go. Thank you for your faithful prayers. Please pray with us that we can retire this debt this year and be able to focus on beginning construction! Isn’t it great to be part of something so much bigger than ourselves? God is doing a great work.

Remembering Christmas
2006 ended with a great Christmas Celebration! We held our annual Christmas dinner at the church. This year, Alli’s job was made so much easier by delegating the responsibility to Llodelis Baez. Llodelis has a true gift of hospitality and took this as her new ministry. It was a blessing to see new Christians get involved in the annual festivities with a new perspective of the true meaning of Christmas.

The Christmas program was also the launch of our church choir. The program consisted of five choir songs, a duet, a solo, a quartet and songs by the Children’s choir. Above, Bethany Melrose directs one of the children's specials for the Christmas program.
