City and State Historic Tax Credit Workshops

Maryland Housing Counseling Fund Supplemental Grants
Application deadline: December 19, 2011
The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development is now accepting applications for the Maryland Housing Counseling Fund (MHCF) FY12 Supplemental Grant round. The MHCF continues to focus support on the necessary local partnerships that help households throughout Maryland avoid foreclosure. Activities that are eligible for grant funding during this round include: foreclosure prevention and/or mediation assistance, post-foreclosure counseling, and outreach to distressed homeowners. Chesapeake Bay Trust Awards Program | |
The Chesapeake Bay Trust is currently soliciting applications for its 2012 Awards Program!
Each year the Trust recognizes outstanding achievements by educators and students through five awards, including the Honorable Arthur Dorman Scholarship. The Dorman Scholarship awards $5,000 to an exemplary student of color who demonstrates a commitment to improving the health of the environment and the Chesapeake Bay.
Application deadline is December 16, 2011.

Grants Just Awarded! | |
The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation recently awarded a $120,000 grant to St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center to purchase, renovate and resell to qualified buyers 30 vacant homes in Baltimore City, as part of the bank's "Leading the Way Home" grant program. St. Ambrose's revitalization model targets those neighborhoods where strong assets exist but communities are struggling to recover from the recession.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development just announced that the Baltimore was one of 29 regional areas to receive a 2011 Sustainable Communities Grant in the amount of $3.5 million. The Baltimore Metropolitan Council is the lead applicant for the consortium, of which BNC and other local partners are members.
