Maryland Affordable Housing Trust - Round 35
Application deadline:  September 29, 2011 
The Maryland Affordable Housing Trust (MAHT) announces its 35th funding round! The General Assembly created MAHT in 1992 to promote affordable housing for households earning less than 50% of area median income by funding capital costs, providing financial assistance for nonprofit-developer capacity building, funding supportive services for occupants, and/or funding operating expenses of affordable housing developments. For more information... 
 
2011 Subaru Healthy Sprouts Award
Application deadline:  October 1, 2011 
The Subaru Healthy Sprouts Award recognizes and supports youth gardening programs focused on teaching about our environment, nutrition and hunger issues. Through winning programs, youth will learn the skills necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle compatible with environmental stewardship and gain an understanding of how their actions can positively impact the well being of their community. For more information...

Healthy Baltimore 2015: A City Where All Residents Realize Their Full Health Potential

Healthy Baltimore 2015 is Baltimore City Health Department's comprehensive health policy agenda for the City, articulating its priority areas and indicators for action. The plan highlights areas where we can have the largest impact on reducing morbidity and mortality and improve the quality of life for City residents. It also includes data on the groups with the largest health inequities. Housing + Transportation in the District of Columbia
From The Center for Neighborhood Technology
The District of Columbia's Office of Planning and the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) have released a new study that customizes CNT's H+T Index with localized data to examine how neighborhood characteristics across the region affect household transportation costs. The CNT study found that the average household transportation costs in the DC region ranged from $8,500 to as much as $25,000 per year for a typical household. Download the report here...

With changes in the economy and on the political stage, leadership issues have been all over the news. TCC Group has a different take on nonprofit leadership, which is featured in the current issue of Nonprofit Quarterly. The article, titled "Doing More with More: Putting Shared Leadership Into Practice", defines and provides a how-to framework for developing shared leadership--an adaptive, systemic approach for extending leadership beyond a nonprofit's executive director to others within the organization. LiveBaltimore presents "Buying Into Baltimore East 2011", a home buying fair and tour on Saturday, September 10. This event features home buying classes and a neighborhood trolley tour. In partnership with the City of Baltimore, eligible buyers may also receive incentives.
