CMTC Helps Companies Use Innovation for Profitable Growth
Innovation seems to be the new buzz word in business. But what exactly does it mean? To put it simply, it is a process used to create opportunities for growth. However before innovation can occur, a company must be ready to change and "confront reality" as to where they are in the company's business lifecycle.
Due to the recent economic downturn, companies had been cutting costs to slow down a decline in profitability, and now many are finding their survival is at stake. These are the companies that need to retool and 'innovate' in order to grow once again.
CMTC - California Manufacturing Technology Consulting - is a not-for-profit consulting company that works with Riverside manufacturers to develop creative solutions that lead to profitable growth. Local Technology Firm Receives $10,000 Grant to Facilitate Expansion
|
Amro Albanna, President & CEO of Innovation Economy Corp, and Steve Abbott, President of OLI, receive a grant for $10,000 from SmartRiverside CEO Steve Reneker
|
On September 4, 2012 Olfactory Laboratories, a local technology company whose research is intended to help
fight the spread of mosquitos-borne diseases, received a
$10,000 grant from Riverside-
based nonprofit, SmartRiverside.
Formed as a vehicle to establish the City of Riverside as the innovation center of the Inland Empire, SmartRiverside launched the High Technology Tenant Improvement Program in 2006 to help growing technology companies offset the costs of tenant improvements, allowing them to redirect capital to their research and operations. Since its inception, the 501(c)3 has awarded over $185,000 to local technology firms.
Olfactory Laboratories, Inc, or OLI for short, was born from research conducted at UC Riverside and was licensed in partnership with the university so that the technology could be transformed into commercialized production. OLI's mission is to design products to inhibit blood-seeking insects from finding humans and animals. OLI uses a variety of scientific methods to design and create environmentally-safe, non-insecticidal compounds to be used in affecting insect behavior. (Read more...) |
