Welcome to the First Nasson NotesWelcome to the first edition of the new Nasson Notes. We will still be mailing you our print newsletter, The Lion Speaks, but now electronically we will be able to keep you informed of things as they happen. Future issues will have some recurring notes such as important info, dates to remember, and a calendar of events at our sister organization, The Nasson Community Center. In addition we will announce new Traveling Lion events and report on ones we've held. Also each month we will feature an item from the Nasson Store. As always we appreciate any articles or pictures of you and your Nasson Friends.

HOMECOMING 2011

Homecoming 2011 was held this year on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 30th, October 1st and 2nd. The theme for the year was the "Lion Luau." As a growing organization, we are pleased to announce that it was one of the largest crowds in years. We began Friday Night with a well-attended casual get-together at The Backstreet Grill in Sanford. Old friends reconnected and new friends were made. We continued on Saturday morning meeting in the Anna Ashley Room at the Nasson Heritage Center. People gathered together, donned their lime green "Lion Luau" commemorative T-shirts, chatted, and the Association held its annual meeting. Highlights of the meeting include the election of board members and officers of the Association, the announcement of Distinguished Alumni Awards, and the Inductees into the Hall of Fame.
After the meeting the FUN began!! We moved to the Little Theater and held our Luau, complete with Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, sides, cocktails and tacky Luau decorations. To say the least a good time was had.
We finished Sunday morning with coffee and bagels in the Heritage Center. Goodbyes were said and plans were made to meet in the future. |

Are you on Facebook? So is the Nasson Alumni Association!! Thanks to Brad French '74 we have a Facebook page. Make sure to check it out. It's another great way to find old friends and to keep current on what's going on. When you visit the photos of Alumni who are on Facebook it is amazing to see how many people have included pictures from their Nasson Days!! Simply type Nasson College into the search field and look for the entry that says group and click on it.. So far we have 300 members. Join us !!!

Host a Traveling Lion Event!!
It is amazing as you look through Facebook that you see so many profiles that contain pictures of Nasson. Both when people were there and when they meet nowadays. Current meetings are what the Traveling Lion is all about. They are not intended to be large formal meetings but small gatherings of fellow Alumni in your area. To host an event is really quite simple and the Alumni Association is here to help. First find a place to meet in your area. No need to rent a room or a hall; just meet at a local Pub, diner or coffeehouse. Email the info to the association at nasson@metrocast.net. We'll find Alumni in your area and send out e-vites for you. We'll then let you know who responds and send you a host package that will include such things as a small sign to identify yourself, recent publications, door prizes and a gift for hosting. Hold your event and have fun. Make sure to take plenty of pictures and send them electronically to nasson@metrocast.net. We'll include them in an upcoming issue of the new electronic Nasson News. When you have a great time you might want to set up a date for another get together. Who knows it could become a regular thing.
