ANHS Field Show Week Info
Dear Marching Band and Color Guard Parents and Friends: 

This may be one of the busiest weeks in the history of our program.  Please take a moment to *carefully read* this ENTIRE letter.  It contains IMPORANT information about the events of this coming week:

 

1. SHOW VOLUNTEERS MEETING: THURSDAY (10/27) - 6:30p - 9:00p

We will need **ALL** Volunteers for the MBOS show to join us for a meeting on Thursday evening to review our plan for Saturday's show.  We will start in the band room, then move to the stadium and other areas of campus.  There is a great deal of coordination to be done and with this being our first-ever marching band competition at Aliso, there are many things to cover.  OUR SUCCESS depends on YOUR attendance at this meeting, so we're all prepared for Saturday.

 

2. FOOD DONATIONS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS - URGENT!! 

  • There are a number of food item donations we are in-need of for Saturday's event - including salads, wrapped desserts, rolls, soft-drinks, water, and other items.  We'll also need assistance in baking 200lbs of potatoes, which will be offered in our concession stand. We've setup a page on the website with the list of items and quantities that are needed. As commitments for donations are received, we're updating the site to reflect what is still needed. Please check the site and drop a note to foodservice@anhsmusic.com with a list of things you can donate.    
  • We are also in-need of several "pop-up" canopies, to serve as shades/covers for judges, etc. A specific need exists for a couple of canopies that are no larger than 8' x 8' - for use on the roof of the pressbox.  Please contact Gene Langmesser via email if you have a canopy that we can borrow for the weekend. 
  • PLEASE keep an eye on the front page of the website all week - which is where we'll announce any other items that we're in-need of for Saturday's event.

3. SHOW SETUP: FRIDAY (10/28) - 6:00p - 9:00p

We will begin setup for Saturday's MBOS Show on Friday evening, beginning at 6:00pm and will need as many people as possible to help get the stadium and campus prepared for the arrival of 14 bands and their fans.  Please plan to attend to help, so we can all get a couple of hours sleep before Saturday morning's events. Our students will be rehearsing - so we will have some entertainment as we work.

 

4. VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

If you have not yet signed-up to help this weekend, please do so now on the Volunteer Registration page.  Fill-in the form with your EMail, contact information, and select the "ANHS Marching Band Show" tab to see the list of jobs where we need help. If you're unsure where to volunteer - select the "Wherever you need me" and we'll find a job for you. We have split the day into 2 shifts and we'd certainly appreciate you spending the entire day with us, if you can.  This is a MAJOR fundraiser for **ALL** of our programs - so we are counting on **EVERY** family in the program to help us with this event.

  

5. FALL CONCERT: WEDNESDAY (10/26) -  7:00p

Our Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble will present their Fall Concert on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm in the ANHS Gym.  Please be sure to join us to enjoy an evening of great music that our students have been preparing this semester. Students will rehearse from 4:00-5:30, eat/dress from 5:30-6:45, and be in their seats by 6:45, so the concert can begin at 7:00pm.

 

6. EVENING REHEARSALS

The Marching Band and Colorguard will rehearse this week on Monday night from 5:00-9:00pm ... then again on Friday night from 5:00-9:00pm, since they will not have an opportunity to rehearse Saturday morning before the competition. Please be sure your student gets as much rest as possible - as this is going to be a grueling week, with two evening rehearsals, a concert on Wednesday, and the day-long event on Saturday.

Finally - CONGRATULATIONS to the ANHS Marching Band and Colorguard .... on winning the Class 3A competition at the Poway Invitational Field Tournament this past Saturday. You'll find video from the show on the website.

About the ANHS Music Booster Organization

Aliso Niguel High School Instrumental Music Boosters, Inc (ANHSIMB) is a California non-profit corporation, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 organization. Our *sole* purpose for existence is to provide funding, resources, and support for the instrumental music programs at Aliso Niguel High School. The organization is governed and managed by a Board of Directors, who are elected on an annual basis and serve as volunteers.

 

Formally organized in January 1997, ANHSIMB provides funding for coaches, music purchases and licensing, instrument purchases and repairs,scholarships, food and refreshments for our students, equipment purchases and repair, transportation, and things necessary to provide our students with an incredible music education and life-changing experiences.

We accomplish our mission by providing volunteers that support the Director of Bands and the various programs offered to our students,conducting fundraising events, soliciting corporate and parent donations, and working in the community to gain support for our programs and students. All funds collected by the organization are used exclusively to benefit the students and instrumental music programs of the school.

As a school-connected organization, we must follow the same Constitutional guidelines related to student fees that mandate all schools and districts provide a public education to your student free of charge. Subject to certain exceptions, your right to a free public education means that neither the school nor its support organizations can require you or your family to purchase materials, supplies, equipment or specific uniforms for any school activity, nor can we require you or your family to pay security deposits or make donations in order toparticipate in the program. All donations are strictly voluntary and greatly appreciated as we work together to support our schools and programs!
