G 93 Reds NATIONAL CHAMPIONS !!!!!!!!
VUSA Timbers U18 Girls

Several of these girls have been with our program since U11/U12 -see below for the article from The Columbian

"The girls from Vancouver United Soccer Alliance weren't ready on Friday for the challenge at the start of the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup Finals at Boise, Idaho.

But by Monday, the VUSA Timbers Red were ready for a big finish. Maddi Barton and Kristen Berry scored first-half goals, leading the Vancouver team to a 2-1 win over the Scorpions of St. Croix, Minn., to win the girls under-17 Premier Division championship. The victory avenged a 4-0 loss to the same team on the opening day of the tournament, which featured four regional tournament winners.

The Premier Division is one of two at each age division of U.S. Club Soccer that crowns a national champion. U.S. Club Soccer is a member organization of the U.S. Soccer Federation. U.S. Club Soccer tournaments are separate from the U.S. Youth Soccer championships that involve state cup winners.

This VUSA Timbers Red team for girls born in 1993 qualified for the National Cup Finals by winning a regional tournament at Seattle in June.

This is the second time the Timbers youth program qualified a team for a U.S. Club Soccer national tournament, and is the club's first national title, coaching director Sunny Dulai said.

In the first half-hour of Monday's final match, Barton scored from a Jenna Prewitt assist and Berry scored on a 30-yard free kick to give the Timbers a 2-0 lead. The Scorpions goal came about 15 minutes into the second half.

The championship match was a turnaround from the opening game of the tournament, when the Scorpions scored four first-half goals on Friday to beat the Timbers 4-0.

"We weren't ready for the level of play on the first day," VUSA Timbers coach Robby Trimbo said.

On Saturday, the Timbers played a scoreless draw. Needing a win on Sunday to reach Monday's final, the Timbers got a goal from Kaylee Cropper with about two minutes remaining in the 90-minute match to defeat the Erie Admirals, 1-0. Chantal Paradis' cross set up that goal.

St. Croix had outscored its opponents 10-0 over the first three days of the tournament.

Mustang Stampede Fast Approaching

Going into our 5th season of traveling to Danville, CA as a club to participate in the one of the best tournaments on the west coast, we are happy to announce that we have more teams this year than ever before playing in the event. From our first year in 2006 when we had two teams participate, we are up to 8 teams in the 2011 season (B94's, G94's, G95's, G96 reds, G96 Blues, G97's, G00 and G01's).

All teams are staying in the same hotel property to create a club unity atmosphere and allow easier travel plans for our families. Each team provides a detailed itinerary for the event and will take part in a club night social to welcome everyone and introduce players, coaches and families.

The Mustang Stampede tournament hosts some of the best teams on the west-coast, the competition is fierce, the fields are generally in great shape and the weather is hot. Every year our teams have improved our ability to compete. Last season (2010) we had two teams reach the semi-finals, this year, we are hoping to go further.

Good luck Timbers !!!!

Beck Showcase
Annual Event Recap

This event took place on June 10-12th weekend at Harmony Sports Complex. The event has slightly changed over the years, however, now in it's 6th

season, it has always been held in early June.

This year, the main focus became the senior teams and the college showcase opportunities while still keeping the annual Alumni games going.

The event focused on U16-U19 Boys and Girls teams from within the club, the local Vancouver area and also Portland. Teams played 2-4 games over the two days while college coaches attended to observe the players.  Players from each team were selected and invited to play in the All-star game on Sunday afternoon which was then coached by attending college coaches.

With 18 games played, 10 teams participating and over 10 college coaches in attendance, the event was a huge success, also in part to the weather and great field conditions. Two of the "players of the tournament" selected from the All-star game are from the our Timbers club, Congratulations to Pasha Hasehmi from our BU17's and JP Burgess from our GU17's.

Copa Los Grandes U11 Champions
July 30-31 the VUSA Timbers B2000 Reds combined with players from VUSA Timbers B10-Central to become the 2011 Los Grandes Copas U11 Champions at Delta Park.  In what was a valuable example of the seamless soccer philosophy, vacancies left by vacationing B2000 Red players were filled by members of the B10-Central team with outstanding results.  The B10-Central players brought their "A" games and made major contributions to winning the championship.  Look for more great things from these two outstanding teams.
