Recent Market Trends - What Do
They Mean For You | |
During this continued downward trend in the stock market, we caution investors not to overreact at this point; fluctuations and corrections in financial markets are normal, however in situations when a portfolio is over-allocated in the market according to the investor's risk tolerance, repositioning may be appropriate at this time. Investors may consider alternate strategies to reduce market exposure and volatility. Multop Financial portfolios already reflect our asset allocation model which is specifically designed to reduce overall market volatility (like what we are experiencing now). In our most recent Economic Outlook, we stated that we anticipated a market correction in the near future, so we are poised to handle these current trends.
On a broader scale, our overall market outlook at this point is somewhat negative; on one hand we have had strong corporate profits, but on the other hand unemployment is excessively high, housing figures are anemic, and our debt levels and credit rating have been called into question. Therefore, it becomes very difficult to have confidence in an upward trending market.
It is important to note that on 8/4/2011 we officially entered into a market correction, defined as a 10% drop from the most recent market high. Normal corrections will happen from time to time, and are an inherent part of investing. However, if a correction becomes severe (15%-20% decline), we must then consider the possibility of a "bear market" as well as a double-dip recession. When and if that happens, an entirely new set of portfolio management practices come into play and it's your advisor's job to help you determine the best course of action at that point.
From years of experience in fluctuating markets, Multop Financial has the knowledge to help provide financial peace of mind. Each element of the FIG is about balance: the balance of play with education, the balance of art with science, and the balance of broad appeal with age-appropriate activities. But admission to the Museum is not just for kids! The current exhibition "Fate of the Forests" is an incredible show featuring artwork from regional artists designed to stimulate vital dialogue on the future of our forests. We are pleased to announce that over 300 kids participated in this year's Michael Koenen All-Star NFL Football Kids Camp, held at Ferndale High School on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. Michael Koenen, #9 Atlanta Falcons punter and Ferndale graduate, lead the camp, with assistance from current and former NFL stars; Former Seahawks Alex Bannister, Boone Stutz, Paul Moyer, Sam Adkins, and Dennis Boyd, former Cowboys cornerback Clayton Holmes, former Redskins quarterback and Super Bowl XXVI MVP Mark Rypien, and current Bears offensive tackle Frank Omiyale. New Titans quarterback and fellow hometown idol Jake Locker made a surprise appearance, adding to the joy of over 300 star-struck 3rd-8th graders.
Koenen gave out awards for 40-yard Dash & Longest Kick in each grade level. After learning skills, drills, and playing practice games on the field, the kids ended their camp experience with a motivational talk by Clayton Holmes, as he discussed the importance of staying in school, working hard, and keeping a positive attitude.
