Alliance Votes "No Increase in Assessment Fees"
Even though both the President and the Governor are looking under every rock for more taxes, the Power Inn Alliance has decided not to impose any increase in property tax assessment fees to fund the Property and Business Improvement District in 2013. While the PBID 10-year renewal, which was passed with 77% of the vote last summer, allows for an annual 4% increase in assessment if approved by the Board, the Executive Committee decided not to impose an increased fee on local businesses and property owners in this difficult economy.

"We cut the rate by 10% when we applied for the renewed District," said CEO Jerry Vorpahl. "It went from $203.09 to $182.78 per acre, where it will remain for at least another year. When was the last time a tax district gave their constituents a break and took a pass on raising revenue?"

Fees for Solid Waste Hauling Proposed to Increase

On May 10, the Board of the Sacramento Regional Waste Authority (SWA) is due to review a proposal that will increase their fees.  The Board of the Power Inn Alliance voted against the fee increase

The fee in question is assessed to haulers of solid waste, but is wholly passed through to their clients, mostly businesses that must utilize their services. Under the current proposal, the fee will increase from 8 to 10 percent (25% increase) with fee proceeds of as much as $2 million provided to the city and county. Read more...
