Time table   Ramona Ave: (yellow) Begin Construction - Summer/2013, End - Spring/2014.   14th Ave: (green) Begin Construction - Summer/2015,  End - Fall/2015.   Folsom Blvd: (red) Begin Construction - Summer/2013, End Fall/2013
Christmas came a little early for the Power Inn Area when the SACOG (Sacramento Area Council of Governments) Board approved three area road and street construction projects totaling $8,999,000. This was part of the Final 2012  Federal and State  Programming Projects recommendations for the SACOG Six-County area, totaling an initial $115 million.

The projects approved for the Power Inn Area, which The Alliance has been working on and supporting for some time, include:

14th Ave. Extension: From Power Inn Rd. to Florin-Perkins, extend 14th Ave. as a 2-lane roadway with class II bicycle lanes and sidewalk on the south side of the roadway. ($4,008,000).

Ramona Ave. Extension and Folsom Blvd. Widening: Extend Ramona Ave. from Brighten Ave. to Folsom Blvd, and Sac State as a 2-lane roadway with class II bicycle lanes to include a new at-grade crossing of the rail line and widen Folsom Blvd. from 65th St. to flood gates to U.S. 50 overpass for the addition of the new signalized intersection with Ramona. In addition, bike lanes will be added and the south side of Folsom sidewalk replaced with an ADA compliant sidewalk. ($3,200,000).

Complete Street Rehabilitation of Folsom Blvd: Rehabilitate Folsom Blvd. from 65th St. to the Union Pacific underpass with Complete Streets features including new bicycle lanes and a new sidewalk to fill in missing sections.

"Our Planning and Business Development Committee has been working with the City Department of Transportation, SHRA and SACOG to bring these projects to completion for some time," said Alliance Chairman Carl Stein. "Now it looks like it's really going to happen."

Holiday Mixer Brings Trees to 40+ Habitat Families

Christmas Tree

The Walker family carefully selects a tree to fit in

their new Habitat home.

Thanks to all who came to the Alliance Holiday Mixer, over 40 homes will have the joy of a real Christmas tree this year. Attendees donated their mixer fee to purchase Christmas trees. Sacramento Habitat for Humanity was happy to see homes have a centerpiece of Christmas spirit.

Alliance and Habitat staff helped distribute the trees over the last week. All families were overwhelmed at the generosity, and wide-eyed children excitedly picked out their first Christmas tree.

It took a small village to get this project accomplished - Davis Ranch provided the trees; Habitat for Humanity provided the families; Total Service Logistics transportated trees as community service; Alliance mixer attendees bought the trees; and the Bank of Sacramento sponsored the event.
