Holiday Mixer to Benefit Habitat for Humanity Families
Alliance members and nonmembers are invited to the Dec. 8 Holiday Mixer which will bring Christmas magic to local families. This year the Alliance is doing a first-ever venture with Habitat for Humanity in donating trees to families who may not be able to purchase this integral part of Christmas joy. "A Christmas Tree is the center of Christmas- a real place for the family to gather around, open presents, and celebrate. This will be our first Christmas in our new home," Lilliya Huryeyeva said. Her family moved into a Habitat for Humanity home this year.
Many others in the community have generously stepped up to help. Bank of Sacramento is sponsoring the Mixer, Davis Ranch gave a generous discount to purchase trees, Total Service Logistics (in Depot Park) offered to transport the trees, and Hunt and Sons donated a $100 gift card to be raffled off. Each donor will receive one raffle ticket entered into the prize drawing.
Come to the Alliance Holiday Mixer for networking, meet and greet and holiday cheer on Thursday, Dec. 8, 4:30 - 7pm at the Alliance office. The cost is $20, which buys one tree, and enters each person for the gas card raffle. To register for the Mixer or to purchase a tree for a family online, visit powerinn.org |
Picnic at the Park Registers Huge Success
Over 320 Alliance members and families enjoyed an afternoon at Depot Park where the second annual Picnic at the Park was recently held. "It was like an old fashioned Country Fair," said volunteer bartender Scott Fitzpatrick. For the kids there was face painting, magic, carnival games and enough bounce houses to fill the Rail Yards (Hey, maybe that's an idea). Adults took part in it all plus "Closest to the Pin," raffle, silent auction and some great rock and roll from the New Originals. Food service was catered by Plates Café.
Bottom line: Everyone had fun and the Alliance even made a small profit, enough so that the Board has already approved doing it again next year. Thanks to the many sponsors, Sally Freedlander and her committee and particularly to Event Manager Jamie Szutowicz.

Picnic at the Park Profile
The Team at Separrovich/Domich saw the Picnic as a way to hold a great employee appreciation event at a modest cost.
