Unemployent Rate Continues to Increase in 2011

An unexpected downward turn in April, 2011 put an end to the steady decrease in unemployment rates we saw throughout most of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. Unemployment rates across the nation and state have both seen a 0.2% increase since April 2011; Wake and Johnston Counties have both seen a significant increase of 0.7% since April 2011. Despite the steady increase in unemployment rates over the last few months, rates are still down compared with this time last year, a positive sign that the economy may still be in a recovery period.
