Embryo Donation International (EDI) had a poster presentation at the recent  Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society annual meeting in Ottawa, Ontario. The presentation was titled "The level and order of importance of embryo recipient characteristics as determined by potential embryo donors." This research was completed in conjunction with Florida Gulf Coast University. "Professor Galen Papkov, second author of the poster and our statistician, was on sabbatical in China when we were crunching the data. We emailed and Skyped our way through the process, creating the poster even with the 12 hour time difference," explained Dr. Sweet. "The research was original and never presented or published, adding tremendous information regarding how potential embryo donors felt about conditional donation stipulations of embryo recipients."

EDI was proud to have been a part of the scientific presentation and to have exhibited as well.

Having started her career in medicine 28 years ago, her motivation has always been to make a difference. Her unique set of training, marketing, promotions and communication skills aid her in coordinating with other fertility practices and patients alike. A mother of two, Shelley says, "I feel all patients, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual preference, should have the opportunity to experience the trials, tribulations and rewards of parenthood." Additionally she adds, "To save cryopreserved embryos from being abandoned or discarded is an amazing goal. I am well aware of the responsibility I have assumed in meeting EDI's goals and objectives, but feel particularly prepared and motivated to succeed." Dr. Sweet stated, "Shelley is also doing a great job!"

Please join us in welcoming her to our growing team. If you have questions or wish to contact her otherwise, you can email her at [email protected].

Embryo Donation - Medical & Ethical Issues
Creating a Family
Listen to the broadcast now.

For those of you coordinating embryo donation for your patients, there are often a number of questions that arise relating to the medical and ethical issues involved. Recently, Dr. Sweet and reproductive law attorney Stephanie Caballero, also known as the Surrogacy Lawyer, discussed this with Dawn Davenport of Creating a Family. A wide range of medical and legal issues were discussed during the hour-long discussion.

If you missed the broadcast, you can listen to it online.

Thank you for reading Embryo Donation Times by Embryo Donation International (EDI).

Our vision is simple...
  • To increase the number of cryopreserved embryos donated while reducing the number of frozen embryos discarded or abandoned.
  • To assist in matching donated embryos to patients in need in an ethical, fair and nondiscriminatory fashion.
  • To provide the largest selection of donated embryos we can so embryo recipients can have the best choice possible.

As a subdivision of Specialists In Reproductive Medicine & Surgery, P. A., we have been performing embryo donation since 2001 making us one of the most experienced embryo donation facilities in the U.S.A. We welcome you to EDI and wish you success in all that you do.
