Embryo Donation International Presents to Georgia Health Sciences University
|
| Reproductive endocrinologists Jamie Akin, M.D., Paul G. McDonough, M.D. and Craig R. Sweet, M.D. |
Dr. Sweet was honored to present, "Embryo donation: A complex solution for a complex problem," at the Fifth Paul G. McDonough Lectureship and Symposium at the Georgia Health Science University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia). The presentation took place on May 18, 2012. "It was wonderful to see so many of my peers. Presenting at my reproductive endocrine fellowship alma mater was particularly rewarding," explained Dr. Sweet. "Getting to spend some time with my favorite teacher and mentor, Dr. McDonough, made the trip extraordinarily worthwhile."

FGCU Research Day
|
| Corey Burke and Cristina LaGrasta at FGCU Research Day |
We had the pleasure of participating in Florida Gulf Coast University's Research Day with student Cristina LaGrasta and professors Jo Ann Wilson and Galen I. Papkov. A biology major and chemistry minor at FGCU, Cristina collaborated with Dr. Sweet, Corey Burke and others on research relating to embryo donation.
The abstract title was " Examining current intent, stipulations and motivations for embryo donation in patients with cryopreserved embryos." The research revealed specific motivators that may encourage undecided patients to donate their cryopreserved embryos rather than discard or abandon them. Congrats, Cristina and all of the research participants!

Donations to Charity for Survey Participation
|
We recently asked patients who had cryopreserved embryos at our parent organization, Specialists In Reproductive Medicine & Surgery, P.A., to complete an embryo donation survey. EDI agreed to donate $20 to one of ten charities for each completed survey. There were a total of 39 completed surveys and we're happy to announce EDI has donated $780 to a variety of non-profits.

Pay it forward. Become an Embryo Donor.

"In the order of nature we cannot render benefits to those from whom we receive them, or only seldom. But the benefit we receive must be rendered again, line for line, deed for deed, cent for cent, to somebody.' - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Compensation
At EDI, we continue to work hard to help people build families. We are honored to be a part of such a momentous part of someone's life.
| Please consider the ultimate gift of donating your cryopreserved embryos |
The concept of donating your remaining embryos may sound foreign, but it could be life changing. You'd be giving someone else (or another couple) the opportunity to have a family with embryos that would otherwise just be cryopreserved, discarded or abandoned. It is truly the ultimate gift.
On our website, we share testimonials from both donors and recipients. If you're considering donating your remaining embryos, we encourage you to review them. Also one of our wonderful donors shared her story on our blog and she included some reasons you might want to consider donating.
EDI also donates to the charity of your choice, from a select list, in thanks for your donation.

Meet our Hopeful Embryo Recipients
|
At EDI, we work with both embryo donors and embryo recipients. For the recipients, it's a waiting game - think the "two week wait" multiplied. On our site we list their stories, both for them to see others' accounts, but also for donors to review.
We feature a new person or couple every two weeks, but at any time you can view the stories of the many hopeful embryo recipients. These are people who long for a family and have turned to embryo donation to create it.
Right now, we're featuring A and L. Married for four years, they love children, but due to unexplained infertility, they can't conceive. Learn more about their story and those of our other hopeful recipients.

| Thank you for reading Embryo Donation Times by Embryo Donation International (EDI).
Our vision is simple... - To increase the number of cryopreserved embryos donated while reducing the number of frozen embryos discarded or abandoned.
- To assist in matching donated embryos to patients in need in an ethical, fair and nondiscriminatory fashion.
- To provide the largest selection of donated embryos we can so embryo recipients can have the best choice possible.
As a subdivision of Specialists In Reproductive Medicine & Surgery, P. A., we have been performing embryo donation since 2001 making us one of the most experienced embryo donation facilities in the U.S.A. We welcome you to EDI and wish you success in all that you do.Craig R. Sweet, M.D. Reproductive Endocrinologist Founder, Medical & Practice Director Embryo Donation International
