It was originally written in 1892 by a Baptist minister named Francis Bellamy from Boston. At the dedication of the 1892 Chicago Worlds Fair, public school children recited the Pledge during the National School Celebration on the 400th anniversary of Columbus's Discovery of America. The words "Under God" were taken from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address and added by Congressional Joint Resolution 243 and signed into law by President Eisenhower in 1954.

Take time to think about and reflect on the all the words-- what does your pledge really mean? And what do you need to do personally to keep our Republic?

Devote a few hours a month to making a difference in your Princt, Community, Congressional District and our Nation! 
 What can you do now to help preserve our Republic?
