KL2 Open Call for Proposals
Multidisciplinary Clinical and Translational Scientists (MCTS) Scholar Grant Competition (KL2)
Application Deadline: August 15th, 2012
The NUCATS Institute is pleased to announce the fifth call for applications for the MCTS Scholars Program (KL2).  KL2 applications are due August 15, 2012 and funding is scheduled to begin July 2013.  The KL2 award is funded through the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) and provides salary support and additional resources to ensure protected time for mentored research and didactic training in clinical research.  KL2 awards will be granted initially for one year with a second year available, dependent upon progress during the first year.  We request applications for a two-year training period.  If you're a junior faculty member participating in clinical or translational research, please click here to learn more about the KL2 open call for proposals.
Clinical and Translational Science Research Summer Seminar Series
July 12-13, 2012, Chicago Campus
This two day program is sponsored by the NUCATS Institute in conjunction with the Feinberg School of Medicine Medical Student Summer Research Program (MSSRP).  The MSSRP Program educates largely M1 students, and a handful of Honors Program in Medical Education (HPME) undergrads on the FSM track, in the skills required for biomedical and clinical research.  The program covers topics including: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Responsible Conduct of Research, Human Subjects Research and the IRB, Patient Reported Outcomes Research, the Research Enterprise, Navigating Research at Northwestern University, Clinical Trial Conduct, Drug and Device Development, Clinical and Translational Research Careers and much more.  For more information please click here.
UIC CCTS 2012 Summer Program
July 10-12, 2012 from 9AM-4PM, UIC Student Center West, Chicago, IL 

UIC Center for Clinical and Translational Science is offering its annual Summer Program in Clinical and Translational Research Methods this July for residents, fellows, and junior faculty.  This educational program aims to help clinicians incorporate research into their clinical careers and is designed with the unique needs and time constraints of residents and fellows in mind.  At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to discuss research methods, identify the steps required for conducting clinical research, explore online bibliographic citation management software and explain the ethical considerations of clinical research, including requisite IRB approval.  Those interested in participating may register by contacting Biruté Petrauskas at birutep@uic.edu (312) 413-5429 through June 15, 2012.
