Blogs, Seminars, and Round-tables
|
Blogs: An oldie but a goodie. Here is a Blog post from Derek Lowe's In The Pipeline Blog from March 18th 2010. A colleague forwarded the original post to us some time ago, but just last week one of our chemists discovered it for first time. When first posted, the commentary sparked a lot of interest and we've decided to revisit it this November because it speaks to one of the fundamental principals of our Adesis catalog. Thou shalt not list a compound that is not truly IN STOCK. We hope you'll enjoy Derek's post and if you do not already read Derek's Blog, here's a great chance to discover an inspired voice for our industry.
Seminars: Adesis SAB member, Amos B. Smith III (Rhodes-Thompson Professor of Chemistry at U Penn), presented a fascinating seminar to the Adesis team on October 14. Entitled, "Evolution of Anion Relay Chemistry (ARC): Discovery and Applications", the seminar highlighted this effective multi-component synthesis tool, which was developed in the Smith Laboratory. Used to decrease the number of steps for complex syntheses, ARC facilitates the building of molecular complexity in a single synthetic step. Smith's seminar illustrated numerous examples of using ARC to prepare diverse molecules such as natural products and 'natural product-like' compounds. For a recent reference, see: Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2011, 50, 8904-8907 and references cited therein.
Round-tables: Andrew Cottone, VP of Chemistry and co-founder of Adesis participated in a hi-tech research roundtable event lead by Delaware Senator, Chris Coons. Read all about how Delaware is supporting innovation and creating opportunities for cutting edge research in the First State. Blog.

Hot New Heterocycles

Many of our substituted 1,7-azaindoles are popular with research chemists. More recently we have introduced imidazo-pyridines, azaindazoles and deazapurines that allow one to explore the effects of increased heteroatoms in the ring core. Alternatively, the effect of oxygen instead of nitrogen can be explored with our substituted furopyridines.

Adesis, Inc. is a contract research organization (CRO) supporting the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry, biomaterials and catalysts industry.
The life science industry has embraced the philosophy of outsourcing reference standards (competitor's drugs), targets, scaffolds, building blocks and advanced intermediates. Outsourcing allows medicinal chemists to focus on design and assembly of new targets for pharmacological evaluation and streamlines the early stage drug discovery process. Similarly, other chemistry-based research organizations (catalysts, biomaterials and fragrances) have accepted similar modus of operendi in order to maximize cost controls, while having timely project successes.
The core foundation of Adesis, Inc. is attributed to our experienced chemists with the expertise to conduct complex multi-step synthetic sequences (typical range of 2 - 20 steps).
