Since this is an election year, we can expect to hear a lot of words -- and the meaning of those words is not always clear. So it may be helpful to have a glossary of political terms. Part 1...... Politicians seem to have a special fondness for words that have two very different meanings, so we are likely to hear a lot of these kinds of words this election year. If there were a Hall of Fame for political rhetoric, the phrase "social justice" would deserve a prominent place there. It has the prime virtue of political catchwords: It means many different things to many different people.

After the French and Indian War ended in 1763, Americans in the 13 colonies became divided in their feelings toward Great Britain. About 1/3 of the colonists supported England. They wanted to remain English and loyal to King George III of England. They called themselves Loyalists or Tories. Another 1/3 of the colonists wanted independence. They wanted to break away from Great Britain and form a new country. Those who supported a revolution were called Patriots. Yes, we're talking about the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST)... a United Nations scheme that would impose a "global tax" on us and - as former-President Ronald Reagan said - force us to hand over "sovereign control of two-thirds of the Earth's surface over to the Third World."

'Stolen Valor Act' Shot Down by High Court
A Texas man who helped lead the charge for Congress to pass a law against so-called military "fakers" said he was disappointed the Supreme Court had struck it down Thursday.
B.G. "Jug" Burkett, a Vietnam veteran and co-author of 1998's "Stolen Valor," told Military.com he thought the court might toss out the portion of the act making it a crime to "verbally" claim being awarded medals and decorations, but not the entire law. More......
