| MCAA National Update for September 24, 2012 |
THERE'S STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR
MCAA'S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING SEMINAR
MCAA's 2012 Collective Bargaining Seminar (November 7-9, 2012, Coronado CA) is your best resource for preparing for an upcoming labor negotiations. The program coverage is designed to span basic collective bargaining structural issues and the latest best practices and approaches to successful bargaining outcomes for those who are new to or veterans with their local bargaining teams. The program will benefit from the negotiating experience of program chairman Tim Brink of the MCA of Eastern Pennsylvania and Steve Lamb of the MCA of Chicago, Scott Strawbridge of the Northern California MCA, Steve Coleman of the MCA of Ontario and Frank Wall of the PMCA of Oregon. In addition, the program will provide the expert input of nationally recognized labor law attorney Mike Boldt of the Ice Miller law firm (Indianapolis, IN) and Richard Barnes, former director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and a leading national expert in bargaining techniques and approaches. Jim Murphy of the Murphy Company (St. Louis, MO) will discuss the Industrial Relations Council and MCA of Eastern PA members Jim Gaffney of Goshen Mechanical Contractors, Inc. (Malvern, PA) and Michael Dougherty of Matrix Services Industrial Contractors, Inc. (Eddystone, PA) will address ways the bargaining system and negotiations outcomes can be improved to promote more robust industry competitiveness. Also, the program allows for an open discussion of the general election outcome and how it will affect the course on industry relations, bargaining and employment policies and regulations generally. PLAN NOW TO ATTEND 10TH ANNUAL MCAA SAFETY DIRECTORS' CONFERENCE
The conference that focuses on the most critical safety and health issues concerning our industry will take place January 15-17, 2013 in Manhattan Beach, CA. MCAA's Safety Director's Conference brings safety professionals together to learn about the latest regulatory developments at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in technology and in practices and procedures that keep project crews safe and hazard-free while on the jobsite. The conference program opens with Occupational Safety and Health Psychology expert Scott Gellar of Safety Performance Solutions who will speak about the Controversial Role of Discipline in Safety. Mike Farrington of CNA will present Mechanical Industry Loss Trends and David Sarvadi of Keller and Heckman will talk about OSHA Between the Lines. Other topics covered will include Safety and Productivity; Work Glove Technology; First Aid vs. Professional Medical Treatment; and OSHA's New Hazard Communications Standard. A FEW AIPM SPACES REMAIN FOR YOUR MOST EXPERIENCED PROJECT MANAGERS
