DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE LEED PAPER CHASE!
Find out what you will need to meet the LEED documentation requirements on your next project by participating in MCAA's next Green Webinar. LEED Paperwork - Navigating LEED Documentation and Submittals (April 26 at 1:00 p.m., Eastern time) will help you sort out what LEED credits apply to mechanical and plumbing contractors and what paperwork the program requires to document that those credits have been earned.Webinar participants will also see completed examples of perfect M/P submittals for LEED. THERE'S STILL TIME FOR YOUR SERVICE TECHS TO REGISTER FOR QUALIFIED-LEVEL ARC FLASH SAFETY TRAINING
The NFPA 70E Qualified-Level Arc Flash Safety Training sessions will take place on April 12, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time with a focus on mechanical service technicians. This web-based, 90-minute course is being offered at a special rate exclusively for MCAA and MSCA members. Presented by the Hilgeman Group, the session covers safe practices for mechanical service technicians who may be exposed to live conductors of 50V or greater while on the job. All OSHA and NFPA requirements, including recent changes to the 70E requirements, will be addressed. Training certificates will be provided. SHARPEN YOUR SERVICE SUPERVISORS' SKILLS AT GROWING AND DEVELOPING SERVICE SUPERVISORS
MSCA's Growing and Developing Service Supervisors program (May 10-12 in Indianapolis, IN) will help your service field supervisors fine-tune the management skills they need to be optimally effective in today's tough market. Oftentimes, highly qualified technicians are placed in this management position with limited or no management or leadership training. MSCA's Growing and Developing Service Supervisors addresses that experience issue with a focused training program that covers: leadership, coaching, planning, time management, communication, motivational techniques and many more skills which will enable your service supervisors take on and overcome today's workplace challenges. Instructor Kevin Dougherty facilitates role playing based on real-life situations that are videotaped for an even greater learning experience for participants. HIRING A SUMMER INTERN IS A GREAT IDEA!
There are lots of good reasons to hire a college student for the summer, preferably with plans to pursue a career in our industry. They bring new ideas, a fresh perspective, vitality and knowledge about new technologies and practices that can prove valuable to your business. Here's another reason -- a 2012 Student Internship Grant. Once again, MCAA's Career Development Committee is making available grants with funding provided by the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF) to MCAA members who hire student interns.
