The Week Leading up to the Last Sunday After the Epiphany

Thought of the Week

I am always a little amazed when my dog, Casey, can see in the darkness.  How does she see so well when there isn't any light around?  Well, the truth is that there is light around, I just can't see it because my eyes don't work as well as Casey's.  I was thinking about this the other night when I was turning everything off before bed and feeling my way around.  I wonder if I looked funny to Casey.  I wonder if she thought, why is he moving so slow, he could see just fine a minute ago.  Why did he just step on me?   Sometimes we can allow ourselves to become more acutely attuned to light by letting our eyes adjust.  Sometimes we simply need help to see beyond our own abilities.  Wherever we are in being able to see the light of God, we can take comfort in knowing that there is light there even when we can't see it, even when everything appears pitch black.  Sometimes with enough attention and time we can adjust, but sometimes we simply need others with us who can see better than we can.  Sometimes the only one who can lead us through the darkness the one who is light Himself, Jesus. There is light everywhere; seek it out, and ask for help.  I promise you we won't look funny as you move slowly reaching out in hope.

See you in Church!
