A Word From Kirk Bray

This holiday weekend marks the beginning of a new membership year for USTRC.

Yes, the USTRC membership year does run on the calendar year, January 1 through December 31, but USTRC gives its members more bang for their buck by offering a 16-month membership for those who purchase a membership at any of the Labor Day weekend roping or on September 1 and after.

This makes the cost of membership even more valuable. For Gold Spur members, who will receive $1,000 in Flex Earnings automatically after they rope the first time at a sanctioned or affiliated event, the $100 fee cost per month breakdown goes from $8.30 to $6.25. For the best value, the Gold Plus, members will receive $3,000 in Flex Earnings after they rope at a sanctioned or affiliated event, along with complimentary memberships for family members living at home and eligibility to compete in Gold Plus member-only ropings for ropers 25 and older beginning in November. Purchasing that membership for $300 in September is great value at $18.75 per month breakdown and can include your spouse and children.

I encourage you to take advantage of these membership programs. You'll see some changes in 2012 you won't want to miss. Guaranteed.

USTRC Offers Free Roping Seminars at Cinch NFTR

Young Ropers invited to Jr. Looper Championships

The Cinch USTRC National Finals of Team Roping will serve as the team ropers mecca October 22-30 in Oklahoma City where ropers will not only compete, but will find a full menu of activities for the whole family, including seminars featuring world-renowned experts, as well as the highly-anticipated Jr. Looper World Championships.

The seminars are free and open to the public compliments of Purina Mills, Martin Saddlery, Classic Ropes and Classic Equine. Seminars will held October 25 and 28 and will begin each day at 9:30 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.

Featured instructors at the clinic include 7-time World Champion Jake Barnes, NFR Qualifier and professional clinician Rickey Green, multiple champion and PRCA horse of the year owner Kory Koontz, 8-time World Champion Speed Williams, and 2-time World Champion Heeler and world-renowned instructor Walt Woodward.

In addition to the seminars is another free event fashioned just for the young roper - the USTRC Jr. Looper Championships, a popular competition where youth try their hand at roping a stationary plastic steer model. Three age groups are offered: 6 and under, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Difficulty escalates as the distance to the model is increased.

Offering a prizeline that includes saddles, jackets, buckles, ropes and much more, entry into the Jr. Looper Championships is free and will offer two preliminary rounds on October 26 and 29, followed by the Jr. Looper Shoot-Out to be held October 29 in the Oklahoma State Fair Arena. The event is open to youth 12 and under. USTRC Jr. Looper memberships are free and may be obtained at the event. A copy of the birth certificate is required.
