Charleston Metro Chamber
Names New President

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has announced that Bryan Derreberry has been named President and CEO of the Chamber. Derreberry is currently President and CEO of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce in Wichita, Kansas. He will assume the position in Charleston, April 2011.

Asheville Chamber
Names New President | |
The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the selection of its new President & CEO as Kit Cramer, current President of the International Downtown Association (IDA) in Washington, DC. Cramer will bring a wealth of experience to Asheville, as she was employed for 17 years in a variety of management positions with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, served as chief public information officer for two large school systems and is a former elected official.

In these early days of 2011, with fears of a double-dip recession behind us, we are cautiously optimistic that the state of American business is improving. This is due to both the impressive resilience of our economy and the enactment of the tax relief package late last month. The U.S. Chamber projects that the economy will have more robust growth in 2011.

Lexington, SC -
The MidState Chambers Coalition, with the Greater Lexington Chamber leading the charge, is on the cusp of crystallizing its organizational efforts so the region can become more of an economic player. On January 19, presidents of about 15 chambers in 11 counties will meet at our Chamber office to formally agree to get approval from their respective boards to form and join the Coalition. Later, members will identify which issues to tackle, with those members lobbying lawmakers for area improvements.
